A good teacher is able to invent many examples of these tests to prepare a student for this part of the practical examination but it's always a good idea to have a set of specimens to guide yo uin demonstrating not onlywhat is required but what you can ignore when working out where the marks are and how to work your way up from pass to distinction.

This book contains 55 short pieces of music for the sight reading tests. Students will have a short period (half a minute) to look through the music before performing, so it is important that they have practice at playing unfamiliar music in various different styles. The specimen tests are representative of those expected in the exam and include lots of different styles. Essential practice for the Grade 2 exam.

A need for anyone taking exams although a little pricey for what it is but that’s my personal opinion!

These definitely help me practice and rhe book is a good size.

It is used at the DIT Conservatory of Music in Dublin. You can find the movie of the exercises / pieces easily in Internet. A good selection of hi quality exercises for piano. Actually, it is a standard in many Conservatories of Music.

Anyone prepping for Grade 2 piano really needs this so that they can practise for the exam. The book provides plenty of sample pieces of the correct length.
