Excellent and versatile vacuum
I have used this GAS 35 M AFC vacuum daily in an industrial workshop for a year now, and it still performs excellently despite some quite harsh abuse. Daily it sucks up dust and shavings from a 200m2 floor (one fairly quick sweep over only - the suction is strong enough to get right into the corners with the supplied head), but it is also jammed into power tools, used with a small table saw, and diligently sucked up a lot of very fine concrete dust from grinding the top 1mm from said 200m2 concrete floor when it was resurfaced. Once a month it is used as a wet vac to dry off the floor after washing down. It comes with the water blades, but they are a pain to change over so I bought a second head just for that purpose. The filters are shared with a few other makes, like some Karcher ones, which are cheaper than the Bosch originals and aftermarket ones are available for even less. Just make sure they seal properly if not using the Bosch ones as I have found some of the unbranded ones available on a certain auction website do not quite seal into the opening properly. The paper bags are great for general waste, or you can load a normal black bin bag into the base and just hook the edge under the hose inlet. The fibre bags are great for fine dust if you need the class M protection. I've tried a few aftermarket bags but now only use the Bosch ones as they have the best fit and very rarely split. The hose appears to be anti-static, or maybe conductive and grounded through the chassis. Either way I have never had a shock from it no matter what material was being vacuumed, and dust does not build up on the exterior. You can fit an Lboxx on top with your various hose adapters, etc, and some spare bags, but you do lose the carry handle so it is only really useful for storage. Add a cheap 2ft bungie cord to wrap around the top of the head to keep it attached during storage as the supplied clip is not very secure. For attaching to tools with small hose outlets (like jigsaws, sanders, etc) the Mirka Abranet hose kit is great - it fits into the vacuum base perfectly and gives you a 20mm x 4m hose. (Remember to switch the vacuum to the 20mm setting.)If it wasn't the size of a small dustbin I would get one for home. I suppose I could make a throw for it and store it as a coffee table...[Updated September 2024]I still use my original GAS 35 M AFC most days in the workshop, and it still works just as well. The only casualty after 6 years of use is the rear wheels sometimes fall out when picked up as the plastic 'bushing' has worn out from being pulled along for what must be many miles of travel. I've abused it far beyond its intended use including taking it up scaffolding to clean out gutters, and to suck up 8,000 litres of water from a split water tank. It's been fantastic to me so I can forgive a little wear and tear.I did get one for home as well (the non AFC version). It does has a throw over it and the cats use it as a bed!

Very powerful and versatile
This machine is awesome. The first time you hear the self cleaning filter system you might wonder what an earth is going on. But don't panic!Update: I have owned this machine for almost a year now and it has proved to be very versatile. I have used it to finish cleaning the patio after using a pressure washer, (removing excess water) for dry cleaning the patio, for dust extraction with power tools and even used it to remove water from a trap in the bathroom basin when I needed to fix a leak in a difficult position. I regularly use it to clean up my workshop and after decorating in the house. As regards dust extraction with power tools, it seems to me that there is no standard size for the outlet/hose, even the Bosch power tools often have different sizes! I make up my own adaptors using various connectors, fittings and hoses I have collected over the years and fix them together with self amalgamating tape or duct tape. To reduce the times I have to keep making these up, I purchased a couple of Bosch adaptors so that I can leave the home made hose and connector ready for use with the machine.

Great extractor!!
Great product, Lighter than I though it would be despite size of the product. The alarm for blockages needs to be explained better, basically when you use smaller attachments you will have to turn the dial down on the machine otherwise the alarm will sound and wont stop. This applies to the small crevasse tool as well as the size of the hole is reduced and the alarm goes off. also needs abetter way to wrap the cord. Apart from the above mentioned, this is a great tool. Used to sand a floor and hardly any dust at all.

works well, but bit bigger that I thought
Feels well made. does a good job. it's a bit noisy - & watch out for the extra noise when you turn it off!Reasonably easy to use (it's a vacuum cleaner!). the on/off switch operates the vacuum on its own or will be turned on by a tool plugged into it.

Wish I had bought this years ago
I'm an experienced DIYer, doing own-property refurbishment and minor personal building and joinery projects. This dust extractor is one of my best kit purchases and a night and day improvement over more consumer orientated cheaper dust extractors. I've just had it for a few weeks but have already been using it much more than I would have expected and enjoying a relatively dust free environment when sanding and grinding. Also using it for clean ups, saving our home vacuum cleaner filters! I only wish I had bought it years ago.Love the integral power outlet, enabling the extractor to turn on and off with activation of an attached powertool. The thumping noise of the automatic filter cleaning is a bit disconcerting at first - I initially thought there was something wrong with the unit before I figured out what the noise was. Good that this feature can be turned off if needed but I usually let it run. The unit is big and heavy but that is probably unavoidable!

Good all round hoover and more especially a great dust extractor
I am quite pleased with this hoover/dust extractor ,I also like the self cleaning filter. The whole unit is user friendly and stores away easily ,a little on the expensive side but not as expensive as other brands

If you like to listen to constant beeping then buy it!
I have never regretted buy a tool more than this vac! The non stop beeping drives me crazy. I have tried all sorts of filters, bags to see if it makes it stop. Every time I think I sorted it a couple of days later it's having another hissy fit and starts beeping again. I appreciate it's there to be safe when the suction looses flow but it is so sensitive it's unreal.
