Let me start by saying that I generally hate the taste of fish. Eating this only for the supposed benefits of the omega 3s. Apparently, mackerel is the highest or close to the highest source. I’ve tried about 8 brands of mackerel. Between this and the Wild Planet Wild Mackerel, you can’t go wrong. The smell is pretty tolerable and the Mediterranean flavor is actually really enjoyable - definitely the difference maker. The price is also great. I will throw all my other brands besides this (Mediterranean version only, the other flavors are not that good) and the Wild Planet Wild Mackerel, which is also great of you want just a plain, clean and not very fishy one.

You can never be sure about tinned fish, so I just bought one can of mackerel in Olive Oil to try. I just had the full can and the oil, mixed into a portion of freshly made sushi rice, and some veggies. The fish and rice needed a wee bit of salt, but overall very delicious. The product smelled "fishy" when I opened the can, but the actual fish was mild, fresh, briny, rich and kind of sweet to taste. Contrary to other reviews, I did not think there was too much oil; the can seemed very full with fish, which was in a big chunk not little bits, and quite meaty. I usually put butter on my rice but didn't need it with the oil, so healthier. The fish, broken up in the warm rice was very, very good. This along with the healthy nutritional profile, makes it a no brainer to have this product in my kitchen cupboard. Easy 5 stars.

Enjoyed each flavor, some more than others. The fish is not dry at all. My only issue is there was too much salt to my liking. Not saying there was an excessive amount, so if you don't have to worry about your sodium intake, I highly recommend this. I ate it by itself and on pasta and was happy with the taste each time.

I was told by my doctor to incorporate fatty fish in my diet for heart and brain health. I loved tuna growing up, but for some reason other tinned fish like sardines, mackerel, and herring were met with a general attitude of disgust and revulsion. Not only is this Mackerel far less fishy than tuna, it is mouthwateringly juicy and tender. The flavor is excellent and lends itself well to additions like escabeche, olives, onions, and capers. When I first ate it, I tasted it straight out of the can and compulsively downed the whole thing within minutes.I became a complete fish eating monster. When I came to my senses with the juices running down my face all I could think to myself was how good it was and how those little fish never stood a chance. I'd gladly jump into the ocean harpoon and net ready just for the chance to eat it again. Thankfully, King Oscar has made such dangerous measures unnecessary.

King Oscar makes great products. I really like their sardines but love the mackerel. It is tasty, easy to eat and full of omega 3s. It would be hard to to find something as convenient and tasty to eat.

A quality product that provides me with essential omega-3 fatty acids without a load of mercury or PCBs.
