A Child's Book of Poems

This book is magic. You can feel the magic through the words and the illustrations, and as you turn the pages. Some words may be difficult to understand for younger children, but it just adds to the magic. Both my 5 yo and my 3 yo love it - and I do too.

My grandmother bought me this book when I was a young child and I was enchanted by the poems and the beautiful illustrations. I loved it so much and was thrilled to find it still in print. I bought this edition for my grandson, forty plus years later in the hope that he will enjoy reading it as much as I did.

I still have the 1970 version of this book and happily nothing has changed. Such a lovely collection of poems some extracts some entire.Wonderful illustrations.My personal favourite which I still know by heart is "I eat my peas with honey"I eat my peas with honeyI've done it all my lifeThey do taste kind of funnyBut it keeps them on my knife.I would like to buy this book for every child in my family. Absolutely recommended.

Ordered book as my sister had found it on line. It was a book I had as a child and dearly loved but it had got lost over the years. It was a blast from the past and just as good as I remembered it. The illustrations are wonderful. It will be treasured by me and shared with my grandchildren so they can love it as much as I did. Great variety of poems to please all.

Great poems

A wonderful book which I would recommend for children aged 4 - 11. Beautifully illustrated with some truly lovely poems. I had this exact version over 39 years ago when I was a child so it's a marvellous trip down memory lane reading it in turn to my own children. I would definitely recommend it.

Bought as a christmas present for my 4 year old, she loves the beautiful poems and pictures, me and my husband enjoy reading it just as much as she does. The poems are suitable for all ages and it feels like a present that will stay with us for a long time- not like the glitzy plastic toys that have lost their attraction a week on.

My cousin Barbara requested that I get a gift for their new Grandchild. Had not heard from this part of the Sutter clan. Did not know anything about the baby’s mother Leslie; her likes dislikes or cultural attitudes. My mother Helen got me a book like this. I thought perhaps, this new family & their little girl as she grew might love this book of poems. A book of poems is comforting. I have dyslexia & my mother Helen used poems to teach me read. It was a lovingly kind gift.

I like this poem collection which has good pictures and it's nature themed book. Like it very much.

Pictures are indeed pretty, but this book must be for 10+ children, clearly not for the little ones. Some rhymes are not even rhymes, so I can't even read it to my kid without boredome. Not the best poem book I've ever read for sure.
