As a mathematician and a person who has been interested in logic problems since young age, I always look for something more than than the regular magazines full of SUDOKU and KAKURO puzzles. This is a wonderful find for me, because it covers a big variety of problems - we have a bunch of the regular technical exercises, we have logic mind-benders, we have science-related questions and much more. The problems are arranged in various sections for easy navigation and each one has approximate difficulty level shown next to it. The paper quality is also very high - feels sturdy and nice to touch. Overall, this is one of the best puzzle books I have ever had the opportunity to go through and highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in "brain games".

co 2006, First PrintingSaw the graphics and layout of this book and had to get it. I use it for idle moments as a healthy way to exercise my mind. I don't regret buying the book, but have done about 40 or so puzzles and have found what I believe to be a few errors. Even with the errors it is still a good source for amusement.I will list the errors I found and update if I find more (maybe). You can double check me (I would - if I wasn't already me):Playthink 648: The key for the cipher is incomplete. At least in my edition, you cannot solve the simple substitution.Playthink 649: Solution states probability of at least one man getting hat back is .632. I calculated 1-(#ways none take right hat/#ways hats can be taken) = 1-(5!/6!) = 1-(120/720) = 1-.1667 = .8333UPDATE: The Hatcheck Problem is a classic combinatorial question dealing with 'derangement'. I now know my answer using factorials is wrong, and the book does not show how it derived it's answer. This has definitely stirred my interest in learning about this problem. I believe it involves a limit, and maybe the number 'e'? When I get a grasp on it I will post it here.Playthink 656: No mention is made of Ivan until solutionOnce again I still think it is a great book to keep lying on the coffee table. Mistakes just show you shouldn't blindly believe any book (unless you know the writer, editor, and printer to be perfect beings).

This is a very nice book. The pages are in color and thick. There are many puzzles on each page and great descriptions in the back on how the solutions are found. PLEASE NOTE: this is not a puzzle book of crosswords, suduko, mazes, logic problems or wordplay. These are brainteasers only. I didn't realize this when I bought it but I bought The Total Brain Workout as well, which has the usual puzzles in it so now I have everything I need!

AN EXCELLENT WAY TO TRAIN YOU'RE MIND TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX IN ALL COMMON SITUATIONS. I WAS INSPIRED TO BUY THIS BOOK AFTER WATCHING THE TV SHOW [FRINGE] BECAUSE IT WAS SO FASCINATING TO WATCH HOW EXPANDING THE MIND CAN WORK. AFTER JUST ONE WEEK OF PLAYING THE GAMES IN THIS BOOK, I BEGAN TO WORK OUT PROBLEMS...(ex. math,misplaced items) IN MY HEAD FASTER THAN BEFORE. IT'S A CLASSROOM IN A BOOK. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE FOR ALL AGES.
