Traction Man Is Here: 1 (Traction Man, 1) Paperback – Import, 6 April 2006

This is such a great book that I use with year 1 children. It offers humour and quality text. The children have designed outfits for Traction Man, described new adventures using adjectives and written adverts. It's hilarious and can be enjoyed on many levels. Add in -est words (brightest tops) and scientific properties (transparent goggles) and they are winging their way towards expected achievement in writing. Oh and they love the story and pictures too. They don't even realise how hard they are working! It has attracted a lot of positive comments from colleagues and parents who also know what a great read it is.

Already a firm favourite on the bookcase. My 5 year old recently acquired an action man so I thought he would enjoy this! He laughed all the way through, inferring and adding his own parts to the story. The pictures are fantastic and great to set little imaginations running! Fab picture book. Great story. Highly recommended

This book is absolutely fantastic. If you have not read it, please do. The vocabulary is fantastic and challenges young minds, the illustrations are perfect and sooooooooooo funny at times. Traction Man in his Christmas gift is an image to share with everyone and I have! Scrubbing Brush is just the best pet, everyone needs one! I used it with my class of children last year and they were still talking about him and his pet two terms later. What an impact and what a storyteller

Funny entertaining story, good for boys.

We borrowed this from the library and renewed it again and again and eventually bought it on-line as it was such a favourite. Its appeal crosses generations who have lived with Action Man and his effect on small boys! The pictures are fabulous and it really is the funniest childrens book I have ever read. I have since read other Mini Grey books and none of them come close to this. The idea that Granny knits action man a wooly romper suit is a classic - my son has now asked his grandma to knit his action man a romper suit with matching bonnet. Oh and every time he sees a small head scarf he gets very excited and asks mummy to buy him a "sweaty bandana" !

We have a few Mini Grey books, and the thing I like about them is making up the extra narrative for the story, some people may find this odd in a story book, but to me the point is to spark imagination - each time the story can be different from the last time you read it. The children enjoy 'reading' them themselves, because there is no right or wrong, there is a basic framework but as much or as little can be added and that's down to you. I love sharing them with my boys and this has become another firm favorite.

A present for my grandson. He loved it!

I have read most of Mini Grey's books to my children and we have enjoyed all of them. This is a great addition to her collection. I bought this for my 3 year old son's birthday and he has really got a lot from the story. The illustrations are really involved so there is more to see with every reading. My 3 year old says it is fun and my 6 year old says it is great, I can think of no higher recommendation.
