Great series for kids before and during a trip
This is the the 3rd book in this series I've purchased (Travel Guide Paris, Italy) over the past few years to give to my now 12 yo granddaughter before family trips. She enjoyed the other books, and I think this one seems even better (maybe because it is for the whole country rather than a specific city?) The amount and variety of information, all presented in brief (never more than a page), colorful articles is incredible. Just some of the topics in this edition include: famous Italians, Italy on the map, superstitions, food, fun facts, famous cities, useful Italian phrases etc. In addition, there are brief quizzes, activities, a place to write a journal and more.Note that some of the vocabulary might be a bit challenging, especially for younger readers, but it is so interesting that reading it together with a parent or as a family would be enjoyable and probably informative for everyone. I learned something on every page ... maybe I'll get to Italy one of these days too!

Bought the kindle version and it was very informative for my 7 year old. Am not able to print the activity pages which would have been useful but a good introductory guide for Italy before our trip. There are some key Italian language phrases which my daughter tried to memorize.

Very Engaging
The minute my 8yo grandson opened this book, he ran to get a pencil and start filling it in. It captured his attention and seems to have gotten him more excited about our future trip to Italy.

maybe good for the under 8 set, not good for older elementary kids
might be good for really young kids, but there's not anything substantive here in terms of explaining history or giving context for the visit. very light touch (like a short paragraph or passing mention) of historical figures - definitely not for the curious older elementary age. Would be good for 5-8. I cut mine apart to take the pages that were useful out - came down to three and mostly stuff I could have printed off the internet.

Great travel activity book for kids
I bought this for my 8 yr old as we're planning a trip to Italy soon. As soon as she saw the book, she got so excited! It's filled with fun facts and fairly easy activities -- will definitely keep her occupied on our travels!

Great books for kids.
Just came back from Italy with our 7 and 9 year old kids. One used the Italy/Rome book and the other used the Italy book. They really liked having them with them and enjoyed teaching us things. I'd recommend them and will check to see if they cover our next destination.
