Chartography: The Weird and Wonderful World of Infographics Hardcover – 8 Sept. 2016

This is the perfect Coffee Table Book. It's a similar shape to many coffee tables and even has intersecting rings on it that you can't wipe off no matter how hard you try. What it lacks however, is four legs in order to raise it above ground level so when putting your coffee down on it, you may need to lean forward a long way, especially if you have one of those sofa's that's really comfy but quite hard to get up out of.The contents, are in a word; words. but words that exist within diagrams explaining concepts. For people like me who have real difficulty understanding or even caring about things, this book helps, sometimes even forces me with threats of irony to care passionately, and understand more than is necessary.My biggest fear is one day I'll recognize myself as reduced to a mere data set within a Venn diagram, or see myself coming up short in a bar chart, or starving to death while stuck in an eternal feedback loop within a flow diagram because I can't decide what I want for dinner. I'm also a bit scared of penguins.Much like the Oxford English Dictionary, this is a book with some rude words in it somewhere, and would suit anyone who wants to come across as a bit pretentious by leaving it in obvious view for house guests to notice.But don't take my word for it. Buy it yourself. Read it. Laugh out loud. Explain to nurse you were just laughing at the funny book, then settle down with some sedatives as they get you cleaned up for bed.I've added a low quality picture of Henry Blofeld giving an after dinner speech as proof of my social standing

This rating is based on the Kindle version of this book. Don’t buy it! This book relies totally on the quality of the illustration but sadly in the Kindle version although the content is witty and fun (and I am sure in printed form it looks great) the port to Kindle is terrible due to the poor resolution of the images and terrible cropping. These are vector graphics they should look pin sharp not show compression artifacts. Not worth the price for the digital version. Buy the print.

This book is full of fun witty facts and charts. Linking things you might have not noticed, and without this book and the authors sense of humour you might have carried on not noticing. I was already aware of Mr Wildish's work as I have his 'how to make tea' as a splashback in my kitchen and therefore couldn't wait to get my hands on this book.So far it's made me cry with laughter so much so that I had to wipe my eyes and nose on the nearest object. A Lurcher.Buy this book.

I'm not one to judge a book by its cover but the cover on this book is second to none. The information inside is almost as good too. Mr Wildish has produced a very funny and welcome distraction from all of the important work I should be doing. Highly recommended.

Clever, interesting and hilarious book of facts (if they are actually facts) and wonderful nonsense that everyone should own. Highly recommended!
