Will this still work if we can only hang at 7ft high?

Yes, but I would highly recommend you determine a way to use the extra part across the top so it will help catch pop up hits. You will want at least 1 ft of the net to hang loose on the ground to soften the blow of your hits. It should allow the net to "catch" the ball and drop it. Be sure you have more than a 7' clearance where you are swinging your club!

How much room should I leave behind the net when hitting golf balls?
