Received the commode today and am absolutely delighted with it
Received the commode today and am absolutely delighted with it. These range in price on Amazon from £60 to £700. This one cost me £60 and is probably the cheapest one on offer at the time of writing. Was a little hesitant at first as I thought if it's this cheap it must be of an inferior quality. After debating whether to go for a £250 one I opted for this one. How wrong I was!!! This is superb. It has a sturdy build and a solid feel to it. It can be applied as a seat/wheelchair. With the seat cover removed there is an aperture opening to a removeable potty. Here (for me) is the important part. With the potty removed the chair CAN BE BACKED OVER AND ONTO A TOILET PAN where a person with mobility issues can go to the loo as if they were sitting on the loo. This may sound obvious but nowhere is this stated in the description of this item. (And these cannot all necessarily be used this way, though this one can). The height of our loo pan is about 42cm with the seat down and it fits snuggly over it.There is still that underlying question of price though. Why can the price go from £60 to £70 to £80 to £113 to £179 to £259 to£359 right upto over £650 for an Etac Clean??? My own guess is that as you pay more you are paying for for more and more use of strong plastic of an aqua blue/turquoise/white colour replacing aluminium as the construction material for the commode and the design seems to become more minimalist. Going from the £60/£70 to the £110+ range you also get adjustable height. Also (and this is critical) from the point of view of FUNCTIONALITY I see nothing that this commode cannot do that a £700 one can do. Ok it does not have the bluey-white colours of the more expensive ones and so probably is not as aesthetically pleasing as them (actually it looks a lot nicer in real life than in the picture), but then you have a choice to pay over £250 for something which does the SAME JOB as this one that costs a mere 60 quid.

Would buy it again
Epretty good for the price. Would have preferred 4 brakes instead of two, but it's comfortable and does the job.

Safe and practical piece of equipment.
Excelent manoverability as all four wheels freely revolve (casters)The pan is a firm fit and is quite robust, can also be removed to position over the mains toilet to provide an elevated seat position and assist in helping mobility in small toilet areas. A removable seat also enables the chair to be used as a wheelchair to transport about the home, aided by removable foot rests. The brakes are a bit stiff to use, a little WD40 to the mechanism of the activaton lever worked wonders.

Commode Chair
At the moment my husband's in a wheelchair so I have a commode in our downstairs bedroom and this one in he living room. I was hoping to just use this one and wheel it from room to room. But it's far to flimsy to do that. Also I have to have something under it to catch the potty which falls off quite often, there's only two side bits of plastic to hold the potty, it really needs more support. But apart from that it does the job. Also one of the arms keep dropping down, when tilted forward to slide out the pot when emptying. It is tightened regularly, but the arm still drops down.

Fit for purpose
Well made and reasonably easy to assemble. It is helpful that the seat area is a bit wider than a previous commode
