I do not recommend buying Karaj online
I do not recommend buying Karaj online. Package is sent via regular mail with no special packaging. My first one got delayed by 10 days, I requested a replacement, and a replacement was sent. They both arrived at the same day, and I expected at least one of them to be ok, but both items were not good. One item had sealing ruptured and all the liquid drained out and soaked the mail package, another item sealing was fine but the meat smelled weird and had a sticky residue on the outside. I tossed both. Botulism risk is not worth it.

I had some doubts about regular mail, but I ordered it in winter time; it arrived and was perfect. Smoked meats don't need refrigeration, the salt added to it cures it and keeps it fresh. I highly recommend this for anyone who has European roots or just likes smoked type meats.It is absolutely my favorite cold cut meat, nothing compares to it. For picnicking add sliced tomatoes, feta, fresh European baguette, and some olives perhaps. If possible, some red wine and a sunny day :)

Slowly Smoked Pork is Delicious
I buy Bende Karaj Hungarian Pork Loin regularly at our local Hungarian grocer, and have found it delicious. It serves well as a quick snack, or as a sandwich fixing (with a little mustard or light BBQ sauce).Imagine the aroma of a nearby campfire, after pork has lingered on the grill, but not burnt. Somehow, that flavor, through careful smoking and salting, is infused into the Karaj Hungarian Pork Loin.I prefer it in thin slices, eaten cool, but it is also an ingredient in various Hungarian soups. It goes well in a kind of pigs-in-a-blanket crescent roll wrap. Take an uncooked crescent roll, place a thin slice of the karaj, and bake as usual. Very fun for parties -- something different in the midst of something familiar.It isn't spicy even though it is packed with taste.
