Poison Ivy: Triple Feature

hot-hotter-HOTTEST !!!
This review is of the region 1 Triple Feature version, on 2 discs.Had only ever seen the first one on grimy old V.H.S. and seeing it now was a let down. Well acted but rather slow for the 1st hour.Drew was better in Far from Home.Hadn't known of the other 2 films but with stars from t.v.shows Charmed & My name is Earl I was intrigued. The body double nudity from the first is ramped up as Alyssa & Jaime had no qualms about revealing almost all in their leading roles.Jaime's topless swim to music of Bolero & slow motion exit rivals the Phoebe Cates scene from Fast Times At Ridgemont High. Pleasantly surprised at films 2 & 3 thanks to uninhibited stars.

Excellent collection of three films
Three different romantic stories with three different stars who are all beautiful in their roles. I have no preference on any of the three and would endorse any of them

A Good box set
I bought the set because I am a fan of Alyssa Milano who stars in the second film. All three are quite good but my favourite from a film lovers point of view is the first one. Good value for money.

wrong aspect ratio
The aspect ration for all three movies in this edition is 1.33:1 (4:3), the original cinematographical aspect ration is 1.85:1 (16:9). Picture information was simply stripped on the left and right probably for public broadcasting back in the '90s, and it shows immediately. Publications like this need to be punished!Don't buy this crap!

*SPOILERS ON 2 20+ YEAR OLD MOVIES* I'm rating the first and second movies because from that point on it was unbearable to watch. The first and second movie give the impression that they're taking place in the same house and their both about loss of control. Thats about where the similarities end with me.Poison Ivy dealt with 2 friends (Silvia Cooper and Ivy -name given by Cooper her name was never actually given-) from very different backgrounds who become a "sisterhood" in a manner of speaking. Ivy gains her loyalty and one step at a time begins to take over her life and her home seducing her dirty old man dad (ok shes a seductress but the dad was a total creeper you gotta admit lol). Ivy pushes Coopers dying mother out a window/ledge to her death and almost kills Cooper). In the end has basically seduced both Cooper and her father and meets the same fate as the mother. In the end Cooper is left never really knowing who the girl was.Poison Ivy 2: Lily deals with a fairly wholesome girl next door type moving into a house by campus at a art school in the Hollywood hills that looks remarkably similar to the house in the first movie and finds a bunch of nudie black and white pictures of (drumroll) Ivy!!!! dumdumdum!! which show no face so is it Ivy or is it a different Ivy? We'll never know. Ok so even though she comes in as happy and is a promising artist and quickly makes a great group of friends in her new house excluding crazy Carla but ,hey who cares. Quickly snags the hot sculptor boyfriend Greden who's loyal and her friends like. I mean she's got nothin to complain about but no she gets a complex by an over bearing balding teacher who nobody likes and throws everything away for him. (hey just calling it how it is). She seduces him or maybe its the other way around and when she tries to get out of it he rapes her and when he tries to kill her, He like Ivy in the first film falls to his death. Ends well with the rest of them. The first film to me was darker, edgier to me. Was "original". Great cast of actors and the chemistry between Drew and Sarah was stellar. To me the writing was more intelligent. Are there movies of this "erotic thriller genre" that have a similar feel to them nowadays? Sure there are but this was one of the first to its magnitude (back before then there were lines people didn't cross, the Graduate was originally Unrated but is now marked off as PG). It's a classic. The second film to me without question has more likable characters. Its charming and sexy. (though maybe not so much with the teacher. You actually want things to work out for these people whereas in the first one your basically rooting for Cooper to get out alive (with plenty of inheritance for all that therapy she's gonna need). I love the first one and may even say its the best of the two but somehow the second one is my favorite.
