Good value with a couple of quirks
The media could not be loaded. As a photographer I have never owned a light meter and have always dialed in my exposure using tethered tools but for the purpose or reviewing lights and also in an attempt to be quicker setting up, I thought its about time I try one. This is a relatively basic light meter with some slightly confusing additional features. Yes, it measures light, but also temperature and humidity. I don't know why but il just say that you can measure temperature in centigrade or Fahrenheit and then move on.- The head swivels which is more useful that I expected so I can take a reading but not getting in the way of the light.- Light can be measured in Lux or Footcandles. No f-stops unfortunately- The min / max function is useful to measure and display a peak or trough output. I have found this especially useful when working with flash photography because the duration is too short for you to actually see the reading without it.- Setup is easy and they give you the 3x AAA batteries you need but why they screw the battery cover closed instead of clipping it shut is beyond my comprehension** Summary **A useful addition to my bag with the only down sides being the lack of F-stop readout and a battery cover that requires a screwdriver to access. Very decent value for money.

Excellent LUX meter
I purchased a couple of these for emergency light testing in social housing m. Very easy to use, has a big back lit screen and my engineers like them.

Great light meter
This is a nifty and easy to use light meter.Using the meter is really easy. Take the protective cap off, turn it on and hold it in the area you need to measure the light levels in. It is that easy. The meter will give you readings in Lux (or foot candles for those who dont like SI units). While it is reading the light levels, it is also showing temperature and humidity too. Being able to measure light levels, temperature and humidity, its a great device for checking your work environment is suitable and comfortable without having to subject people to it first. The controls on the front of the device are straightforward, and either accessed through short or long presses. For example, you can hold a reading with a short press of the H button, and then short press it again to release it (a useful button if you need to show a reading or need time to note it down). Long pressing the same button activates the backlight on the display. The min and max button when active stores the highest and lowest light readings on the device, and a long press of the button clears the mode. For me, with the help of this meter I soon realised that most of the time my computer desk setup is way too dark and I needed to address my lighting situation at my computer. I installed more lighting and my computer area is much more comfortable to use.Overall, this is a great tool for measuring light levels, temperature and humidity, and following on from that making sure that your work or hobby areas are comfortable to use. I think its fantastic.

Very useful for setting up correct lighting around the house and office, less so for photography.
I was quite interested in trying out this light meter as I test a lot of photography and video lights for Amazon, and have many of them set up around my office for various functions. I’d noted that the product description didn’t really mention much in the way of photography, which I thought was a little odd for a light meter, focussing more on commercial and industrial environments.Having used the light meter, I understand why. Its primary use appears to be setting up an ideal working environment. And, for that, it’s exceptionally good. As well as giving you the lighting readouts in either Lux or Footcandles (does anyone use Footcandles anymore?) it also tells you the temperature and the humidity. I’d never really put a huge amount of thought into the conditions I have for my home office which I spend very long hours in every day, but the light meter was able to guide me towards what improvements I should make. For example, I sit with the window to the side of me. I feel as though I’m in good light, but my own body is casting shadow across areas of my desk that I work at which might be causing eye strain when reading documents. It was quite interesting, and I’ve been able to carry out similar tests in my wife’s studio and elsewhere in the house. For these kind of purposes, it’s very good indeed.Where it isn’t quite so good is with metering light for photography. I mean, it will give you a basic idea, but if it was primarily for photography it would guide on F-stop settings. While it can point you in the direction you need to go, it would be up to you to figure out exact settings. The meter does have a Max and Min setting so it will record the peak light when you’re using a flash, which is good as you’ll never catch what the readout says otherwise. The readout does change rapidly.Overall, provided you understand what its strengths and weaknesses are, it’s a very useful device.
