Don’t buy this product!
Don’t buy this product. The metal is very thin and has no strength. The build quality is very disappointing. It will bend and lose it’s shape as shown in the photo.

Select your log and cuts carefully
I tried to split down a medium sized hardwood log. The force required caused the blade to deform/ripple.I filed and sharpened out the ripple. I only split down smaller logs ensuring that I only cut of a kindling/sticks width at a time. This seems to be working well.

Good piece of kit, saves lots of time and much safer than a rusty axe!Whilst it’s portable to use anywhere I wonder whether a couple of pilot holes in the base may be helpful to those who wish to fix it down? Alternatively maybe both edges of the splitting blade could be sharpened?
