I'm not one to leave reviews often, but this book is an exception. Health is such an overlooked subject in the West, and in particular if people knew how detrimental environmental toxins are to their health and lifspan (chemicals and toxins in the water, food, bathing products, beauty products, clothing, electronic radiation, the list goes on), they would be mortified. The 1st step to cutting down and eventually eliminating these poisons is to be aware of them. This book opened my eyes to many I had overlooked. I'd put this in the top 3 most important books, along with "Save or Slave: How to Save Money Like your Freedom Depends on It" :)

This book is insightful, frightening, powerful. I'd already begun looking for specific chemicals to avoid in foods and beauty products, etc. Already using laundry soap sheets and biodegradable, natural dryer sheets...Down To Earth on Netflix had opened up, for me, and whole new level of interest in environmental care and concern. So I readily purchased this second book by Darin Olien. I'm amazed at the depth, the wealth of information packed into this book. Cannot recommend this enough. Everyone should read this.

He has thoroughly researched his subjects and has great suggestions, many of which I am heeding. I’ve made recommendations to my family and friends. I’m thinking of following some of his recipes for personal hygiene and cleaning products and giving them as Christmas gifts. You could say I’m really inspired by his book.

If everyone would do their small part, then we all could be healthier, feel better and avoid diseases.

This book explains what all those strange labels mean. And the consequences of using those products.
