this is fine, but it means the cables plugged into the ...
I looked at quite a few of these and bought 4 different ones - my front room has only 2 x 2 sockets, both on one wall, and not on the same wall as the broadband connection or the phone connection, so I have quite a few extension leads in the rooms, and wanted to tidy up the cable mess. I really wanted black boxes, as my carpet is black, and thought some other boxes vastly over-priced, so bought this one first. After it arrived, as I didn't want to order more of these, I gave up on getting black boxes, as the only ones available were about £4 more just for the different colour, and I thought that a bit of a rip-off, as surely, it doesn't cost more to make the plastic in different colours? So I then bought a D-Link small white box, and 2 by Allibert: the square one and the medium one. With this, and the D-Link, I am not really sure they don't constitute a fire hazard, as there is no ventilation with this one and hardly any with the D-Link box. The D-Link one has some little holes in the lid, but really, the ventilation should be at the bottom - the Allibert boxes have a slatted, raised bottom, which allows air to circulate under the extension sockets, where it is needed. This box has no ventilation aside from the 2 narrow slits in the short sides, through which you feed the cables. There are no other options for feeding through the cables, so all cables have to be fed through sideways. For the cable on the extension lead, this is fine, but it means the cables plugged into the extension lead have to be bent sideways from the plugs, which is not ideal - it's clearly not designed with British plugs in mind. This box is large enough for a 4-way extension lead, but only if all the plugs point the same way. One of my extension leads has a router plugged in, which points in the opposite direction from the other plugs, and this box is not wide enough to accommodate that. The lid just sits on top and easily lifts up, there are no catches, as on the other boxes, to make it child-proof. While a young child would probably have difficulty lifting the lid because it is so thin and it has to be gripped on either side and lifted up, if they stick their fingers into the side slits and push them upwards, the lid will easily come off, and children do tend to explore openings, so don't think it's child-safe at all. Pets probably couldn't open it, although if they knock it over, the lid will fall off easily. This is essentially a simple box with 2 slits in the sides, and adhesive rubber feet on the bottom - it doesn't look as if any thought has gone into the design and it's as small as they could get away with - it's as long as the small D-Link box (they do 2 sizes), but not as high or wide, and it's quite a bit smaller all round than the Allibert box. The measurements shown in the product description are roughly accurate, mine is 32 cm long, 10.6 cm wide and 9 cm high. The gaps in the sides are 6.7 cm high, 1 cm wide at the bottom and 1.4 cm wide at the top. I think all these boxes are vastly over-priced, and although this was the cheapest one available dispatched from UK that I could find, considering it's size and basic design, I still think it's about £5 more than it's worth. The Allibert box is only about 40 p more, and a far better design, but only comes in white and grey, which is why I initially chose this one. While most of the box is visible in the product description, you can't see the bottom, and I assumed it would have at least a couple of air holes in the bottom. I will re-arrange my plugs so that the ones in this box belong to gadgets that don't stay on all the time, as am a bit wary of using this with anything that stays on permanently, due to the lack of any ventilation. I don't think I'd buy one of these again, and if so, it would be simply for the colour options and comparatively low price.

Decent product, could do with being just a little bit bigger though as it's about the size of a UK four-way adapter (which fits nicely) but if the plug you connect to that are adapters then it's a bit of a squeeze.

Not as functional as it is elegant
Hmm, a tad flimsy. Would be good for a 13a 4 way with standard pludpgs, not so much for transformer plugs. The lid doesn’t stay out.Mildly disappointed.

Lid doesn’t close properly
Looks good, right size, main issue is the lid doesn’t click closed in any secure way, it just rests on the top so any small knock will dislodge it. Bad for anyone expecting this to help child proof their room.
