Q: Can this gel go directly over existing stain? Or does it need to be sanded and primed?

I did a quick coat over existing, and it came out ok. I was just trying to touch up edges. The can suggest roughing up the surface. Don’t necessarily have to completely sand and prime. The gel is super easy to work with.

Q: Can you thin this stain?

Don’t know why you would want to thin this. It wipes on beautifully and if you want to lighten the color rub it with mineral spirits. Darkness of stain is different on different wood. It’s a very dark stain, test on wood first to check darkness.

Q: How much square footage does a pint cover? I have a table that is 110" x 42". Is a pint enough to cover it top and bottom?

Yes. You'll have some left over. Use a cheap wall washing sponge cut up to about 2" x 3" to apply. Dip sponge lightly into gel and spread. Apply 2nd coat after first dries if you want it darker. Thin thin coats.

Q: If I have a table that has minwax dark walnut stain, will this dark walnut gel match (minwax does not have dark walnut gel)?

Matching stains is an art. Best bet is to find a good paint store (not big box store) Take the whole table if you can or something that will come off of it
