Q: Can these be heated? If so, how long do they usually stay heated once the cognac is poured?

Only heat them in your hand, as intended. They are very thin so they transfer hand heat to glass well. But if you did try to heat them they would cool instantly while sitting. Get a thick mug if you want hot grog or cider.
