needed to connect two RJ45 connectors that network different instruments on a boat, wires had to be cut & re-terminated to fit through an opening. These replaced several attempts at various other F-F connectors that had all failed to maintain a solid connection. While it is inside the boat so waterproofing was not required, this is well made and very solid, connection has been reliable and robust, and the fact it's waterproof is a nice bonus. I'm a network engineer so I have extensive experience with networking gear, and while it's only been installed a month my experience tells me that this unit feels like something that will be reliable for many problem free years.

I have a direct burial CAT5 cable from the house to the barn that some critters thought was tasty. Rather than run a complete new line I used a pair of these with a jumper to bridge the gap after cutting out the chewed section. I bought these as a pair and used one to patch a security camera Ethernet cable I sliced while trying not to slice it. It’s in the yard and out in the elements. I coupled it and it was on as soon as I went to check. I haven’t checked the speed but the picture is good.

This waterproof coupler is too short to accommodate the newer molded Cat 6 & 7 cables with RJ-45 connectors. The waterproof FGB 10 Gbps coupler worked fine for me.

It isn’t often I’m compelled to write a review but did want to add my 2 cents on this one. Product quality is exceptionally good. Not often you find something that isn’t cheaply made anymore. One big one, THE GROMMETS COMPRESS DOWN TO FIT MOST ETHERNET WIRE size. Even direct burial. A+

Easy to use, well build for plastic parts. I am not sure how many years they'd last in direct sunlight, but I wouldn't hesitate in a slightly shielded outdoor application. Water proof worthiness seems very good, a nice tight gland that form fits the cable. Over all I like it and it's better than the indoor ones, providing more over all protection for the RJ45 connection points.
