Great coffee
I use this on my electric stove, not camping, so i don't know how it would work over an open fire. I got this so I could make just the right amount for my husband's Yeti travel mug. It makes great coffee. If you put the burner on medium, as the video suggests it takes a while to perk. I put it on med-hi until I hear the water start to boil, then I turn it down to medium and I let it perk 7 minutes. Makes great coffee and is so easy to keep clean since the whole thing can be submerged . I've had no trouble with the glass bubble on top. I do think it costs a little more than it should.

great percolator
I've found this to be the perfect percolator. It is sturdy, well made and easily cleaned. It is beautiful to look at and the wooden clad handles, though can still get hot(right next to fire, you know), are easy to handle with care and enhance the look and feel of the pot. We've had ours for 3 years now and used it often in our little camper trailer without a failure of the glass perc top. Definitely worth the price. Thank you, Coletti!

Smooth coffee a
This is an extremely well made percolator. It comes with QR codes to register for the lifetime warranty and to get tips on the perfect brew. Percolators brew a smooth cup of coffee and can be used on the stove or campfire. Once you brew old school, the pods will taste bitter to you. Cowboy coffee tip, when the brew time is done, gently pour a 1/2 cup of cool water in the pot to settle any possible loose grounds. I'm looking forward to many years of use from this pot. It was purchased for camping, but i think it will be used far more often than just for camping.

Inaccurate capacity, but not bad
Overall, it seems like a good product. Give it a solid scrub before using. It has some manufacturing dust on it (especially in the spout and tubes - I recommend one of those narrow brush scrubbers).I took off one star due to the capacity. I'm fully aware that a cup of coffee is actually 6 ounces, but for this percolator it appears they measured 4 ounce cups. The "5 cup" line gets you roughly 21 ounces, the "7 cup" line gets you closer to 28, and the "9 cup" line (which does surpass the bottom pour hole, as others have mentioned), gets you 37. This is fine for my daily use, but definitely misleading and inaccurate.Having never used a percolator before, it was very simple to use. Add your measured amount of water, separately add your filter and grounds in the basket, then place the components inside the percolator and place on the stove. I used medium high heat to get the water going quicker, but dropped to medium low for about a minute (and low for the rest) once it started percolating. Percolate for 7 minutes, remove from heat and pour.I poured through a strainer to test the amount of grounds left behind (for two reasons - my coffee was already ground somewhat fine; also, my French press was the WORST, so this was habit anyway). There were some grounds in the last few ounces, but practically nothing compared to the French press. I did use one of the included disc filters when brewing, but may skip when I get back to a coarser grind. Was it worth $37? Maybe, I'll have a better idea after a few uses. But if you can live with the inaccurate measurements and are looking to avoid plastic coffee makers, it's not a bad buy.

I Didn't Let My Induction Stovetop Stop Me!
The media could not be loaded. I drink a lot of coffee. I make it every morning and drink several cups. Wanting to get away from plastic components in all drip coffee makers, I decided to see if I would like the dreaded percolator (which most coffee fanatics just hate with the passion.) I fondly remember that delicious, vintage perking sound in the morning from my parent's stovetop percolator and decided perhaps it's time for a comeback.I really dreaded having to figure out the right timing, the right amount of coffee, etc., since I never used one, but I bravely forged ahead. Guess what? It's not that difficult and the coffee is wonderful and very hot, unlike most drip makers. I drink my coffee black and hate weak tasting or bitter tasting or cold coffee. This percolator pleasantly surprised me. It's all metal and glass with a wood handle. I would like the lid to be a bit more substantial and stay closed so one doesn't have to hold it down while pouring, however, it does the job. I have an induction cooktop on my stove and didn't want to fuss with making sure the bottom would work, so I purchased an inexpensive electric burner. This setup works great and in a way, I turned my stovetop pot into an electric one. Added plus, I can make coffee anywhere in the house I'd like to. (BTW my Bosch Induction Stove didn't want to cooperate with this percolator.) Why didn't I just buy an electric percolator to begin with? I wanted more control over the heat and the timing since I am a bit picky about coffee taste.HINT #1: Buy yourself extra glass globes. Immediately. My pot fell on the floor the 2nd day I owned it in my haste to get my coffee grounds ready. Yes, I was excited to use it. Thankfully Amazon/Coletti sell them separately and they arrive quick! I bought 4 of them.HINT #2: It speeds things up A LOT if you boil your water in a tea kettle on your stove, especially if you have a boost mode on your induction stovetop. Either boil it or get it very hot & then pour into the percolator. The perking starts very quickly and you can get to your luscious coffee sooner. I haven't noticed any difference in taste doing it this way.I'm not going back to drip coffee anytime soon. I bought the 9 cup (5 cup in American speak) but I just might be buying a larger unit to have handy when my coffee-drinking friends/relatives come over.
