This is very sticky
I love this product - it is very hard to use.Recommend buying a dedicated silicone brush (culinary) and store it separately.1 year = the seals held up through weather and brutal Texas summer.Wear gloves- this stuff is very sticky.

Got rid of my aphid problem
Had ants that were farming aphids in a potted citrus tree. I wrapped 3" painter's tape in reverse around the trunk (only about 3/4" diameter) so that it would stick to itself, sticky side outward just to facilitate easy removal. Brushed this stuff around the tape, and within seconds the ants were getting stuck in it enough that they were trying to find another way around. The ants could still move through it, it just took them 10x longer, so I think they gave up on this tree looking for more efficient options. That allowed me to kill the aphids - which didn't take long at all - and once I removed the tape, the ants never came back. While the tape was up, I also caught lots of fruit flies.Several months later, and I see an ant hill has moved into my potted lime tree in my greenhouse. I suspect I'll need to pull this stuff back out and use it again soon.

Keeps pests out of large exposed areas of heartwood
Very easy to use. I used it to cover the exposed heartwood on my young maple tree that had a 4 foot by 3 inch area of bark scraped off by a “friendly neighborhood deer.” I was concerned because bugs were placing pupae in the wood and the tree wasn’t growing over the exposed area. I’m ‘old-school’ having learned gardening from my father 45 years ago. Today’s landscapers’ recommendation is to not use tar on the stumps from pruned limbs, because the tree will overgrow it naturally. I have seen this happen and it makes sense, because the tar stops the natural process. But for such a large area of exposed heartwood, especially when there is evidence of insect infestation, nothing beats a nice layer of tar! Then wrap it in “tree wrap” weather resistant paper.

Works great if you cut a large lim
I have several fruit trees peaches plums and 3 years ago I put in an Apple tree it was doing fantastic ! It about 18 feet high !Just my luck 150 ft pine tree came down right across my yard !So get out the chainsaw and start cleaning up the mess ! And under the pine tree was my poor Apple tree with a few broken branchesAnd a huge split a good 25 inches down the trunk ! After clamping the split trunk as best I could! I plasted it with this stuff! Saved it from bugs /dease/ weather. Glad I got thisThe tree is doing better and this will protect it threw the winter !

Be VERY CAREFUL not to let this stuff on your skin
I was surprised how thick and gooey this oil based stuff is. Of course it covered the cut tree limbs, but because they are all up high and at an angle, it’s impossible not to apply with this stuff dripping. If it gets on your skin it requires alcohol and lots of scrubbing to get off. If I had a choice to do it again, I’d get a spray can. It’s not easy to apply and takes several dips in the can since it’s so thick.

Does the job but ...
This is much easier than the aerosol can but one of the cans ( I ordered 2 ) had leaked. Fortunately it was encased in a plastic bag and maybe 2 Tablespoons had "escaped." This product was excellent because it could be "painted on." I used this for some "Holly Trees" that the previous owner had let grow to a relatively great height ( 6 1 /2 feet). I had topped them off because they had been even taller. New holly sprigs want to sprout up and down the trunk which makes it look "bushy and over grown." Sealing a cut will keep it from re-sprouting. I was pleased and was glad I had ordered 2. Cans were packed well - just check / turn the lid an extra turn maybe????
