Inexpensive but effective relief.
I've had rheumatoid arthritis for 30 years, and when my back recently added its voice to the chorus of pain, I was just about at the end of my tether. I tried rolled-up towels on the advice of my physio, and although that gave me some relief, I felt that this couldn't be the best solution, not least because the damty things kept unrolling every time I stood up, and squashed down really easily. So I looked around for a better solution, and after reading the many reviews for this product (Amazon, Trust Pilot and Reevoo) I decided to give it a try, although I was unsure as to which one to get. I ordered the Original McKenzie Lumbar Roll (4 inches). I was also slightly dubious about the strap length, but I needn't have been, as it comfortably goes round my riser/recliner. The roll itself is great; the comfort level is just right - not too soft, not too firm), and gives my back just the right amount of support. I can sit comfortably for the first time in a very long time, but I also need back support overnight, and while I looked at the night rolls, not only were they much more expensive, but the largest size was for a 40 inch waist, and I'm no svelte youngster. So I tried tying the roll around my waist (it certainly wouldn't have stretched around the bed) and I've had the most comfortable night's sleep back-wise in over a year. Now, to the bounce-back qualities: having used the roll for 24 hours straight, it seems not to have squished at all and resumed its original shape as soon as I got out of bed. However, just to be on the safe side, and for convenience, I'm going to order another one for overnight use. This small item has made a *huge* difference to my life already, and I can't recommend it highly enough, so if you're suffering with back pain, give it a try, it's a small price to pay for effective relief.

Has really helped my neck pain
I'd been struggling to sleep and had neck pain all day. This roll has done wonders! It's so good I purchased one for my arthritic mother and mother in law who both use theirs every night.I choose to slide it inside my pillow, but there's also the option to have it loose under your neck while you sleep. The first couple of nights it felt a little strange but I gave me instant relief. I no longer have to roll out of bed, but can immediately sit up-right like 'normal'.I'm sure it won't be as miraculous for everyone but at a cost of about £15 I really think it's worth trying if you suffer from neck pain.I'm ordering another so I can air/wash the cover in between uses.

The best option for car support
It’s great as it’s a light support without being cumbersome. The thicker lumbars I have tried often result with other compensation aches because they are too thick and firm creating an unnatural curve so this is the best option. Sadly the cushion is much thinner after a few months use having not held its shape but it’s still effective for most journey lengths in the car

This miscellaneous roll of black foam has made driving my car....
This miscellaneous roll of black foam has made driving my car viable again! I foolishly purchased a car with bucket seats (as though I was 17 again) and they have little or no lumbar support, great for a silky smooth race track for a few laps, dreadful for pitted and scarred roads of the United Kingdom. I purchased this on a whim, I had a vague recollection that as a kid my mum always travelled with a ‘back roll’ so thought it must be worth a go. Well generally it is very good firm and supportive but also comfortable for longer distances. There’s not really anything to dislike, the only thing would be if they could Incorporate a sheath for the snap buckle as I’m a bit afraid that it might wear on my Alcantara (1st world problems). Anyway it’s worked well for me so far, I can’t quite tell if it’s started to lose a bit of its shape already in which case I’d drop it down a star but at present it doesn’t warrant that. All in all a great buy, and for the price you may as well give it a go.

Not for me
I've given this item 3 stars only because it didn't suit me. I bought it on the advice of my physiotherapist to support my neck when sleeping but I couldn't get comfortable with it and after persevering with it for some weeks had to give in. I feel it's quite expensive for what it is, but I guess when it works for some people it's worth the money, just not for me.

Great support for a bad neck
I have a bad neck/shoulder and find that sleeping usually makes it worse, so after much research I thought I'd invest in one of these. I put it inside my pillow protector case and this keeps it in place. Although my pillows are fairly plump and sturdy, this does give some added support in just the right place and you can adjust for your own needs. I alternate between using this and a contour memory foam pillow. It is small enough that you can pack it in your suitcase and take with you on trips. It feels very solid when it's in the pillow. I've been using for a few months now and it's still in perfect shape.

Not to Mckenzie specification - and very uncomfortable
In his book "Treat your Own Back" McKenzie writes (chapter 3) "The lumbar roll should be not more than 4 to 5 inches in diameter (this one was 4 inches/10 cm) before being compressed. UNDER COMPRESSION ITS DIAMETER REDUCES TO ABOUT 1.5 INCHES (4 CM)."This roll reduces very little in diameter under compression. It does not fill the small of the back when put against an upright chair as shown in the photos in the book and it is most uncomfortable.I still have two McKenzie lumbar rolls which I bought many years ago, and which do fit the above specification. Both are getting rather dilapidated which is why I wanted a new one. I am surprised that the manufacturers claim this is an "Original McKenzie" when it does not fit his specification.

Good firm support to ensure you sit in the right position for your back
Bought one years ago when I slipped a disc, and found this really useful. My recent purchase was for my mum who was racked with back pain and needed to be in good shape to care for my dad. This really helped her, eased the pain over time and thankfully the back problem went.
