Is this fabric cotton?

The box says it's cotton sateen fabric....It has a very nice hand after sun printing and washing it.

Can you wash the fabric after it’s done? Or will washing it undo the work?

I have not washed mine for I used it for crafts to frame.

Typically how long does the exposure take for this fabric?

It depends on the time of year. I exposed mine in the spring and it took about 20 minutes. You should be able to see the exposure happening so when the green/yellow color turns silvery it's done. I exposed mine a little bit past this point for good measure.

How much will this fade over time? Can you wash in the washing machine?

I have not yet used this fabric however from the instructions on back it seems that the longer it is in the sun the darker the blue will become. My assumption is that it would not fade any faster than another type of fabric that would be in the sun. The back of box says" Cyanotype prints are archival. Launder in cold water using non- phosphate detergents, as yellowing may occur if the fabric is exposed to the phosphates or alkaline environments. Use care while handling cyanotype fabric, as sweat and hand oils may also cause discoloration."
