Bought this starter set+ 2 expansion accessories (a cannon and a spinner) for my 4.5yr old this Christmas - he's loving it- it definitely needs an adult help setup, but it's quite an enjoyable activity to come up with patterns and trajectories together. Just know that this starter pack is actually quite enough - it has a launcher (3 balls at the same time - see video we used two in this example) and a cannon, so the expansion wasn't actually required, although if you do get it, the extra cannon will obviously give you more options). Quality seems quite good, I expected the grey bits to be metal, they are plastic, but not too flimsy, time will tell how long it lasts but seems quite sturdy. PS: box says 8+, probably because it's a bit more complex than the usual simple versions, but I found my 4.5yr old can do quite a bit once I showed him the first few times.

The GraviTrax Starter set was bought as a Christmas present for my young grandson, who is normally crazy about playing with his LEGO. So for a change I got him the GraviTrax starter set. No sooner had he unwrapped the present before he started putting it together. He was very happy and now wants the next part for his birthday.

Marble runs are nothing new for sure, but GraviTrax brings something new to the marble run table with a very clever system of interconnecting pieces that enables twists, turns and tricks that anyone can put together. The starter kit, as its name suggests, is essentially what you need to get you going, and contains all of the core elements to build your first marble run. The pieces are based on a hexagonal 'honeycomb' system, aided by interlocking mats to ensure you get everything in just the right place.GraviTrax won't have you building particularly tall marble runs, which you might think a little odd since a marble run is essentially a track that depends on gravity to keep the marble rolling, but GraviTrax employs some clever tricks such as the magnetic cannon to give your ball a speed boost and keep it going over a greater distance.If you love GraviTrax as much as we do, it won't be long before you've exhausted everything you can do with the starter set and want to start making tracks that are bigger and better. For that you need to purchase the add-on packs, which seem quite costly for what you get in them. Cost aside, it does mean that GraviTrax is infinitely expandable, so your only real problem is finding space to put it all.You will probably want to invest in some extra balls (or gravity spheres as they call them), but if you were thinking about using GraviTrax with marbles that you might already own then be aware they need to be a specific size to work with this system, half an inch (or 12.7mm) to be precise. Obviously only steel balls will work with the magnetic features, but there's no reason why you couldn't use balls of any other material otherwise.Once you get your hands on your first GraviTrax set, you will understand why this has been a massive sell-out in the territories that it has already launched. One to watch for Christmas 2018!

Highly educational and durable great gift add on’s available for later

My 7 year old grandson was immediately impressed by this - finding time to construct a working layout as a matter of priority. Although receiving a new bike, huge Lego models and other goodies the gravitrax was present of the day.

It was for my grand daughter, who absolutely adores it. Great fun for The Whole family
