A must have!
I read A LOT of pregnancy-related books during my pregnancy and this was my favorite. This book was factual but easy to digest. It was comprehensive- covering physical changes and mental health tidbits for mom as well as growth milestones for fetus. I feel like this book also presented a wide variety of information without much of a bias or a judgmental tone that a lot of other pregnancy books have.

Good Reference
I am a man whose wife had just hit 8 weeks when I bought this book. I found it to be a good reference for understanding what was happening to my wife’s body as the weeks progressed. Had a few tidbits of information throughout that were helpful to cam some anxieties.

Get the Second Edition instead
The things that they added to update this third edition include cutting out the being a father chapter and replacing it with a transgender chapter, and they use words like "chest feeding". Also pushing the covid vaccine in the new book as well.

Good, basic information
So far this book has been good. It has a lot of good, easy to read information from pregnancy planning until birth. It includes some helpful charts (what over the counter meds are safe, nutrition options, etc) to give you a good start. There is a lot of information, but it does lack some details. However, the details missing are things you can find online as well -- plus it's a good thing they don't go too far down the rabbit hole of details or else the book would be very dry and dense to read. As aspiring first time parents, this helps set some expectations and gives us some confidence on what to expect going forward. I wouldn't say this is the one and only book/resource you'll ever need, but it is definitely a good place to start.

Easy to read and informative
This book is easy to read in plain language, and has a lot of useful information on pregnancy planning and birth. I especially like the safety charts for typical over-the-counter medicines. This is a great starter book for a first pregnancy and will help educate, prepare, and build confidence.
