Written in the authors usual readable style this second volume continues that is often neglected in English language sources, full of complexities and, on occasions, simply misunderstood. Covers many spectrums from black to white through shifting shades of grey, Includes much that will be unfamiliar to the reader amd is well recommended. Difficult to think of anything comparable currently available . Written by an acknowledged authority on the French Army circa 1870 to 1962.. Adds real value of that there can be doubt.

Very detailed and well written
An extraordinately detailed history with lots of detailed biographical portraits. Read with volume 1 and you will have the best and most balanced history of these times.
