Good suction, no leaks so far
I've been using this vacuum for a couple months now. Some reviewers are saying it leaks, but I haven't had any issues. I also noticed there is a video showing how to assemble the product, but that must be from an earlier version because the one I received has several of those pieces molded into one solid piece that can't leak. I suspect that old version with multiple parts is what those reviewers were talking about. The suction is strong, but of course weakens as the filters clog up. I've been using it primarily to deal with hair algae. There is a rough filter on the suction end where all of this gets caught, and it is easily cleanable to remove the buildup and keep on cleaning. I agree with some reviewers that the force of the motor is so strong that it can dislodge the outflow hose and cause it to go spraying all over the room. This did happen to me. Have a towel handy whenever you use it. The culprit in my case was the clamp that you attach the hose to that sends the water back into your tank. That clamp is designed to be expandable (not sure why, there is only one size output hose), but that design caused it to fall apart and then the hose was loose and when squirting out of the tank. I put it back together and used a zip tie to prevent the hose from ever coming loose from the clamp again and haven't had a problem since. Hitting the aquarium hard for a couple days in a row sucking up all the hair algae for 10 minutes or so really does a good job and prevents it from becoming unsightly again for a couple weeks.

Falls apart.
Where do I start? The design was not thought out. If you like nasty water from your fish or turtle sprayed in your face or all over you by all means buy this pump. The parts either fall apart or get stuck together. It leaks water from every joint. Sometimes the pump work sometimes it doesn’t. It does not pump hard enough in general but it will not suck any debris from the water, on top of the gravel and don’t think about trying to use the end as designed it will not clean your gravel. It sucks air from somewhere because there is nothing around the pieces like an O ring to prevent leakage of water or air. It will not work at all unless you submerge the entire pump. I would not have bought this pump had I known in advance that it basically has to lay on the bottom of the tank. It can’t be used as described. I made the mistake of not using it before the return date. I’ve tried to reach out to the seller but they do not respond. At this point I do not want a replacement I want my money back. Poor product and poor customer service.Update: 01/20/2025I never heard back from the seller. This pump cost too much to not be used because of its flaws. Since I had no other option to remove the water from the turtle tank I had to lay the pump in the bottom of the tank. It barely pumped out the water. It kept sucking air and only very little water. I removed the pump because it was useless. I was checking all of the connections to see if there was any way to seal them to prevent the pieces from not sealing. Upon this inspection I realized that the bottom of the pump that connects to the tubing has a crack which was not allowing the pump to create a seal.I want my money back. I’m on a limited income so this was an expensive purchase. If it had worked I would have been happy. Now it’s a useful and expensive mistake.Seller if you bother to read your reviews how about making me whole for this horrible pump.Your customer service is horrendous. Not responding to your customers proves that you were aware of the pumps issue.I want my money back.

game changer
I have a 75 gallon planted tank that I set up 2 years ago. maintenance had been a pain and dirty wet mess every time I change the water that I’ve stopped cleaning and changing the water for over a year. Consequently the tank get dirty and over run with cyanobacteria that i have no choice but to clean it change the water. looking at the options, I decided to go with this power gravel vacuum cleaner. I’m glad i invested in this tool. the set up was easy. the wand is adjustable to comfortably fit your tank size. The suction power is powerful and adjustable. At max power, I could empty a 5 gallons bucket in less than a minute. The kit came with a long hose to expel dirty water into a bucket. after used, I separated everything for easy storage. My substrate is gravel and it was supper easy to work with. since using this vacuum, I’ve done 5+ water changes and my tank is looking much cleaner, plants are healthy and vibrant because the cyanobacteria was pretty being wiped out by this cleaner and some spot treatments. filling up the tank is also easy. all I had to do is sucking up the clean water from a bucket and let it run out the outlet into the tank. I’m now doing water change and clean up job twice a month and no longer hating it. for me this thing is a game changer.

Worked until it didn't...
I was so excited about this vacuum. It really was a lot easier than the huge thing that my hubby was using for our turtle tank, which would be a 3 hour chore.Pros: Quicker, picks up debris well, great for weekly maintenanceCons: The different heads were a little complicated so I ended up using it without them; some of the connections would pop off so I ended up clamping some things; worst of all, has stopped working after 4 months, and of course it's after the date that I can do anything (besides can't find the manufacturer online).Summary: So while I think it was working pretty well, I will be looking for something else to do the same thing that hopefully will last longer. 70 bucks down the toilet.
