Excellent Book for Troubled Times
There is so much well-researched information n this book. The acknowledgements and introduction contain enough information to be a book by itself. That’s how weighty this work is. I appreciate the author’s insights and willingness to be politically incorrect to tell the truths that many would rather ignore. While I enjoyed many aspects of the book, one of the things I disagree on are the author’s concept of race, as I believe it is a social construct more than a biological one. This is part of what keeps people divided to think that we are different “races.” However, that is more of a subtly and not something the author actually dedicates any time to so it is not something that detracts from the overall message. This book makes several strong arguments. I would recommend this book to students of:1. African history2. African American history3. American historyI don’t think this author provides the ultimate solution to any of the issues raised in this book but he does make a worthwhile contribution to the overall conversation.

Masterfully Researched and Thought-provoking
The author has done an incredible job of piecing together 400+ years of Black history, offering readers a detailed understanding of African Americans' systemic challenges and triumphs. The book is engaging and compelling, making it difficult to put down once you start reading. It challenges you to think critically about history and the ongoing impacts of systemic issues, which is a refreshing departure from more superficial treatments of the subject. While some conclusions drawn by the author may be controversial, this book is a testament to the importance of confronting differing viewpoints. In an intelligent society, engaging with ideas that challenge our preconceived notions is crucial, and this book does exactly that. Even if you don't agree with every perspective presented, "Black American History" will make you reflect and reconsider many long-held beliefs. It's a powerful read that demands an open mind and a willingness to think deeply, making it a standout addition to any American history and social justice collection.

Very educational
As a woman with the privilege of being born white in North America, I continue to educate myself to be a better ally and advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. This book contains great information and insight, however, I am not a fan of the layout of the content/writing style. I do recommend the book to gain better awareness and education, particularly as much of Black history is being removed from school education.
