We had a wonderful time with this. It's one of the best toys I've bought for my two 7 year old grandkids and that's saying something :-DI especially like that it's not too 'girly' or pink and isn't offputting to boys. It's fun for both. It wasn't occult either, so suits most beliefs.The recipe booklet is perfect for getting started with and has nice, clear diagrams as well as text, so it suits reluctant readers as well as more competent ones. The 'ingredients' are imaginatively named and well presented. There were plenty of opportunities for the children to talk about what qualities they thought would be useful to have and the kit encouraged that. Mine made 'Unicorn training', 'Calm', 'Invisibility', 'Quiet' and 'Scary' potions as well as lots of others. The glow-in-the-dark ingredients were popular, but there was plenty of the glow star glitter left over at the end. Actually, there are quite a few remaining ingredients unused, which is a bonus. Nothing felt cheap or skimped.I did use a hand-held label maker to add a bit of a 'professional' look to the potions, but it's not necessary. There are cool blank labels in the kit to write on.I loved that there were two mixing bowls, funnels, scoops and fairy wands, meaning that they didn't have to share and could mix away without having to wait for anything. There were plenty of bottles (20) to sustain their potion-mixing activities for some time and inclusion of a few extra corks was thoughtful. I really appreciated the security tops on the colouring bottles, because it meant they needed adult help with a potentially messy part and didn't spill anything crucial. The fizzy mystery potion was fun too.The box contains a nice storage box for display of the finished potions. It's a very thoughtful feature because it kept them together and made them feel precious. Once the potions were made, the children used them in adventure games for days, carrying the box with them on a mission to defeat an evil teddy (apparently).I would definitely recommend the kit for children aged five and up, with adult involvement. It was educational, stimulating and above all, lots of fun. Everything about the set felt well thought out, as if it had been designed by someone who cared about children having fun and using their imagination. It's good value for the amount of enjoyment we all had.

This was a stocking filler for a 9yr old boy. We got it out for a play date recently and they played with it for hours making all kinds of potions. It’s high quality, well designed and super fun for any budding wizard. Would highly recommend.

First class present for my 7 year old. She absolutely loved making all the potions. This kit includes so many unique and fun ingredients: magic fairy dust, lucky glitter, galaxy glitter, rainbow star, moonlight star, mars star, ocean bubbles, volcanic ash, gold fairy wing, lucky clover, unicorn horn, spiders, skull, pumpkin, spider silk, leaf of life and unicorn hair. You can make 7 complete potions using the ingredients and all the instructions WITH PICTURES so kids can do it themselves with little or no adult interface. Even my 9 year old son joined in. Really good quality and the bottles are unique too and corks provided. Buy this as a gift and you won’t regret it.

We bought this for our seven years old granddaughter and she very much loves what she can do.however, I would suggest that adult supervision is most appropriate and needed, due to the high probability of waste and spillages.You can see a photo of the display case that she has arranged, not being enough cork stoppers and so she has improvised with coloured cotton wool..!Overall this is a very complete and wonderful kit. Nothing within is of undue concern, with supervision and older children. Nothing has stained or caused skin reactions when used.Very much appreciate d and very much loved.......it just has a limited appeal as there can not be any replay value once used. Putting aside what can be effectively displayed.Very much recommended for both boys and girls, her brother liking it also.

Fantastic product and toy. Bought for an 8 year old and they have made so many lovely little potions and can display them. There are so many different little things to this kit, it even comes with a display case, really impressed. Definitely worth the money!!

This was a lot of fun to do, my 6 year old loved it (I did too). She loves mixing things and making a mess with my stuff, so this was a better controlled activity that actually didnt cause too much mess and saved my lotions etc getting taken and made into things. Highly recommend this!
