Exactly how many chopping blades does this come with in the box?

Two - one small and one larger. You need to take care not to deform the blades in the cutters as it is a pain to realign them and easy to cut yourself if you are not careful.

Some of the reviews say this is not a genuine Vidalia wizard? Is that the case, please?

I couldn't say for sure. But it is certainly very poor quality compared to the one my friends in the USA have.
