I think it is great; pans are large and reusable.
I have tired the normal colors from Kuretake and now I got the metallic/pearl ones. I love everything about it. However one main thing that stands out about this brand is the pans these watercolors come in. I am not even close to emptying one pan but I am excited to because I want to reuse these pans for my tube watercolors. These pans are bigger than typical half and full size pans and is so nice to grab paint from. I wish they would sell these pans just empty because I would buy them! But for now I will just practice a lot of watercoloring and hopefully have some empty pans to reuse. Thanks.

Beautiful colors!
I've been searching for a decent Metallic Glitter watercolor for a while. I have quite a few different brands and though nice, just not visible enough. These are very nice and have a good variety of colors.

Not as vibrant and shimmery as I had hoped for
Let me start out by stating that I am fairy new to water coloring painting and to painting in general. So please take that fact into consideration when reading my review.I was excited to be able to order this set of metallic watercolors to try out. I love using any type of metallic art tool - glitter and metallic gel pens, metallic colored pencils, metallic paint pens, etc. If it can bring a sparkle or a shimmer or a sheen to my amateur artwork, then I'm all in!I recently bought a DIY watercolor swatch pad and decided to use it to swatch the 24 colors in this set. Unfortunately, I do not own any black watercolor paper, so I was unable to try out these watercolor paints on a black background. On the right side of the swatch rectangle, I tried to paint a very saturated shade of the color by using just a tiny amount of water. On the other wider side of the swatch, I used more water. (At my very low skill level, I was unable to even try to paint a gradient of color!)I was surprised to see such a variation in the sheerness level of some of the colors in the set. I was disappointed by the following colors which looked quite pale even with hardly any water added to them: Gem Coral (looks like a pale pink), Gem Lapis (looks like a washed out grey blue - nothing at all like its namesake gemstone!), and Gem Turquoise (looks like a pale blue with little green). It was odd to me because other Gem Colors in this set (e.g., Gem Violet) were much darker and more vivid, even when watered down some.My favorite colors int the set were the Pearl Colors because they had a nice combination of vibrancy and shimmer. I will be using these colors the most in my artwork! There were plenty of golds and a copper but no silver in this set. That was disappointing, especially since a few of the golds seemed very close in color. It was also disappointing that this set only contained one Opal Color (Opal Violet) which was pretty much invisible on white paper.I appreciated that the manufacturer included a swatch sheet with all the color names and numbers, organized by type of color (Starry Colors, Gem Colors, Pearl Colors and Opal Colors) and that they showed what each color would look like on both a white and a black background. What I really liked about this set are the large reusable paint pans. Especially as a beginner, I hate it when the paint pan size is small, there is little space between pans, and the colors start getting mixed and muddied up. With this set, even large brushes can be used with plenty of space in the pan and surrounding the pan.At this price point, I expected a set of 24 beautiful, vibrant, metallic watercolors, so I am definitely disappointed.

Terrific watercolors
Highly recommend Kuretake paints. Good convenience colors. Blend and bleed well. Great colors. I have the set of 48 and the graphite tambi set. Can’t go wrong with these!

Beautiful colors
These colors are amazing. They have great texture, shimmer and can be used thick or more diluted and still have great color. Totally in love with these colors. Definitely recommend.

Mostly lovely, but annoyingly inconsistent
Most of the watercolors in this palette are lovely: easy to rewet, flow beautifully, gorgeous color, smooth and consistent on the paper. However, there are a few colors that are just awful, specifically the new colors, which make up nearly 1/4 of the palette! I'm not sure if I just got a bad batch, or if the new colors are all formulated poorly. All of them (gem coral, copper, gem lapis lazuli, gem turquoise, and gem black) are gritty, but three of them were the worst. Gem coral, gem lapis lazuli, and gem turquoise all look wet in the pan even when fully dry and dried down on the page thick and weirdly glossy. In my amateur opinion, they have too much binder in them.I tried to work with them by removing some of the binder (it sits on top when dried down) and I even rewet the entirety of the three pans and mixed them up, which did change the consistency slightly. After all this, they stopped drying down hard and glossy, but they are still sheer, patchy, gritty, and difficult to rewet.Unfortunately, I'm returning the palette.
