If by stereo you mean two speakers that can act as a left and right channel, then yes. If you are asking if they are stereo paired like a pair of stereo paired microphones then no. To your second question, yes, these are the same units you would purchase at any pro audio store (Guitar Center, Musician's Friend, Sweetwater, etc.)

What setting on back of speaker is best for a small room?

It depends on how far away from the wall the speakers are. The manual has picture based explanations of this.

I plan on mounting these on a wall. Do I need a shelf or do they have a mounting port on the bottom of the speaker?

There is no mount on the speakers and the wires come out the back, so sufficient space would be needed.

Best in class

You can never go wrong with HS series. I personally love HS8. The kind of detail you can hear in HS8’s is uncanny. I’ve used krk’s, pre sonus, m audio in the past.However, if you have a smaller room like the one i have now, hs8 do pack a punch. Much recommended!
