Perfect for melting bees wax
The quality is very good and capacity is twice what most double boilers listed on Amazon can handle.I use it to melt and then strain bees wax, harvested from Langstoth frames, using a crush and strain method. I can process the wax from 5 "deep" Langstroth frames (after pressing the wax in a fruir press to remove almost all of the honey). My wife makes fudge and chocolate pie filling...and we may need to buy another one of these for those purposes.

Very Nice Double Boiler
Bottom pot is heavyTop pot is very thin and lightLid is very heavy glass and stainless steelOverall great designGlass lid has a small hole, great for keeping a thermometer in which is usually needed with certain types of double boiler cooking. It's a really nice set up.Those of you that know what a double boiler is used for, and know how to cook, this is a great kitchen must have. Those of you that don't know how to use a double boiler, will complain that the top pot is too thin and food burns and sticks to it. . . . . . . DUH! The top pot should never come in direct contact with the stove flame, DUH . . . . That's why it's called a double boiler, the water heats your recipe, not direct flame. No sticking, No burning! The other great thing about this model is that I can fill the top pot with 2 quarts and still have some breathing room left over.

Does What It Is Supposed To Do
Listen, this is NOT a steamer and nor should the top part be used as a stand alone pot to cook with. You can see in the detail photos that the top pan has a groove in it. That is there for one specific reason and that is to hold it into place. Stop giving products bad reviews because you are not capable of reading the product details, description or look at the photos in the ad box. They are not falsely advertising this product whatsoever. It does a pretty good job to be honest. Yes the top part is a bit thin but I've already used it to make shampoo bars and it worked just like it should have. It is a nice size and is pretty durable, especially for soap or shampoo making. I had absolutely no problem with heat while using it and it is very eye appealing. The Handle seems to be well made as well. If I had it to do over, yes I would buy this again.

Great set, good price
Great little pan set, I read some reviews that said it was "too light" or that it warped or that it just did not seem "heavy enough " . Hey for less than 20.00 what do you expect ? I have no issue with this product it does exactly what it is supposed to do. One reviewer said it did not fit well together, mine was perfect, yes it lets steam out between the boilers if it did not it would become a pressurized bomb. I use this to re-liquefy honey that has started to crystallize. Put water in bottom pan and honey in top one, turn stove on and monitor honey temperature closely. Do not let honey get above 120 degrees, ( 140 is what experts say, I err on side of caution) , this keeps from destroying the enzymes in raw honey. I am very pleased with this and do not regret this purchase, it is just what I need. It may not (probably won't ) last as long as a 100.00 dollar set but for my purpose it is fine. Just don't expect to need two hands to pick it up, it is light weight and holds 2 quarts with plenty of room to stir. I hope this information is helpful

Negative comments are unfounded
This is an excellent double boiler. I had some concerns because of some of the negative comments. When I got the pan, I was surprised at its size. It's big. It's bigger than the pan I was replacing. I poured two quarts of water into the upper pan and had an inch to spare. This is a two-quart pan, even though some reviews said it wasn't. The upper pan has an indentation an inch from the bottom that keeps it from falling into the lower pan. So, yes, food can get into the indentation. So what? I use the double boiler to make sticky steel-cut oats that wash out easily. There was also a comment that the upper pan only left an inch of space for water in the bottom pan. Not true. The bottom pan is four inches deep and the top pan only takes an inch of space. Both pieces fit together nicely. They're snug enough to prevent too much steam to escape but not so tight that they stick together. Several comments were that the upper pan isn't coated. That's exactly why I bought it. I don't want coating in my food. The pan washes well without being coated. I recommend this double boiler and have nothing bad to say about it.
