Cannot wait for Ice FIshing
The media could not be loaded. So I have been Ice fishing for about 5 years now. I have recently started to get more into it. I needed to find a unit that would give me downscan and GPS/MAPS capability. Being on Lake Erie. Its important to know where the reefs are so I can chase the walleye. The Hook2 7 was the answer. Compact, easy, and tons of functions. When I powered it on I couldn't believe how easy it was to setup and how easy it was to navigate through all the functions. The picture is crystal clear and its processor is super quick. Lowrance did a grate job with this unit. I am extremely happy with the purchase of this. As I use the unit I will update any Pros/Cons that I see.

Great value for a large screen.
I bought this unit along with a hook2 5” . We installed this onto my nephews boat as an early Xmas gift. He is so pumped. The install was easy and we just need a few hand tools, a drill and a coat hanger (for fishing the cables). We were able to take this unit out and the screen brightness is so much better than the HDI unit we were running right beside this one. The 7” screen is a good size for the helm, we were able to keep the map in full screen and read it at full speed. The split shot transducer was good for humps and walleye fishing. I really liked the look of the overlay downscan...it was like seeing the 2d image in downscan. It is pretty easy to use with auto tune on the sonar. Like the other hook units...being able to use it for ice fishing was an important thing as well..it has a colour flasher. And you can use the bottom lock for ice fishing to.I am going to post pictures of the install..it took just over an hour.I would recommend this sonar for sure. ...thanks Lowrance....my nephew is one happy camper.

Great fish finder
Screen is bright and easy to see in sunlight. I like the easy setup and wide cone angle. It picks up my bait under the boat with no problem. Mapping is great and really helps find points and humps. If you are looking for a good unit that won't break the bank you should give this unit a try.

Hook 2 has it all
The media could not be loaded. The hook2 7 split shot is a great unit for all levels of fishing. Not only for open water but great unit for ice fishing also. I am a long time fisherman and have ran top of the line all the way down and this unit provides great features like high quality sonar and down scan with full gps at a reasonable price. The set up is easy to do and it allows you to make quick setting changes or set it and leave it the way you would alway fish. Really happy with the product.

Ease of use,,,,works great and very clear picture.
I started fishing tournaments in the late 70’s BASS, Red Man etc. Used flashers, paper graphs and everything in between, Garmin, Lowrence, Humminbird, Simrad. I’ve got the experience. The Hook unit is by far the worst piece of crap I’ve ever had. Customer “no service”! I paid $597.00 5-18-19 and sold it 11-5-19 for $200. There were times I couldn’t get it to boot up. The background was dark and I couldn’t change the colors. The Hummingbird Helix 7 I received 11-6-19 sonar, DI, SI and GPS works great and everything about it is user friendly. It’s on a pontoon but I’m going to change my offshore boat electronics to Humminbird.

Perfect unit for my jon boat
The media could not be loaded. I got this unit for my 16ft jon boat that use on the small rivers near my house. This has everything I need: sonar, downscan, and great maps. I really liked the Navionics+ maps that came with the unit. You can just put the card in your computer and download the lakes that you want. One of my favorite features is the autotuning sonar. All I had to do was mount the unit and transducer and I was ready to fish. No adjusting settings or anything. It was super easy.

Difficult to mount
The nav package and sonar definition was everything I expected and more. The four stars is for the difficulty to properly mount the transducer on my Boston Whaler Montauk. Be sure to use a mounting plate to avoid drilling multiple holes in your boat.

I was hoping to be happier
Using in saltwater in approximately 5 to 30 ft of water. Comes with no directions for setup. Looked for videos and all the videos are for the touch screen. Not the same, trust me. It takes forever for it to keep up with your location on the map. Every so often it goes black while it thinks and eventually comes to you location. In rough water, the screen will flicker. The images are good and it is fairly easy to use. But in the touch screen models you can caliberate it for salt vs fresh and for different depths. Not this one. One fits all. I wish I knew that. I wish I could send it back, but I paid the boat delearship $250 to install it. So, I am stuck.
