Excellent. Why do more devices not have e-ink screens?
I've praised ThermoPro devices in the past, but from other reviews Govee is getting a good name and I decided, as a first step, to try this thermo-hygrometer.The big difference from almost every other similar device is the e-ink screen - and what an improvement e-ink is over LCD here. It can be seen from a long way away even in bad light, so a backlight is unnecessary, and is black on white, not dark grey on light grey. Any change of digits is visible, not instantaneous, but you are hardly going to be staring fixedly at the screen. As with all e-ink screens, the whole screen flashes black on white from time to time to clear up any stuck pixels. Unlike e-readers, that flash is reduced to every 1 in 50 refreshes.Other than the screen, the rest is also good - a small and light white case with grey surround and a button on the top which is used, once, to pair with Bluetooth or as required to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius. There is no magnetised connector to attach the case to metal as with ThermoPro, but there is a double-sided sticker supplied separately from the case.Accuracy is good too - I ran it against my weather station and it was was within 0.3C and 4% humidity over a couple days. The only minor issue is that the case back has to be popped off to remove the plastic tab which prevents the battery discharging before first use - or to replace the battery - and this is a bit fiddly. The battery is a CR2450 button. (The variety of button batteries is becoming a nuisance here - CR2450 is a slightly unusual size as CR2025 or CR2032 are more common). The battery life is large; on both devices the battery is showing as four bars out of four on the device after six months' use. Surprisingly, the app reproduces the bar display and doesn't show a more accurate battery life.Govee's app is comprehensive. Although, like all such apps, it wants you to build up a mini-empire of its manufacturer's devices, so has bells and whistles galore, these are at least kept separate from the device functions. Those offer Bluetooth synchronisation followed by data display instantaneously or over time (hour, day, week, month, year) and data export. There are also some rather excessive options such as comparing readings from two devices over a time period, comparing readings from one device over different time periods, averages per day or month and more. There are a few minor issues; if Bluetooth is turned off on opening the app, you have to go to the phone settings and turn it on, rather than the app offering to do so. Also, connecting with the device takes several seconds because Android has to find the device location first - an Android, not a Govee, "feature".To export data, all you do is enter your email address, select an option and the readings are sent to that address as an attached CSV file. If you are enthusiastic, every reading (one per minute) may be exported, but there are other frequencies offered and every 15 or 60 minutes is easier to handle.Govee asks you, as all such manufacturers do, to set up an account when using its app. It is not necessary and, as far as I can tell, the only useful function enabled by using an account is firmware updates ... but this device doesn't have upgradeable firmware. My initial question is hard to answer as there are surprisingly few people discussing it, but many more LCD-based devices would clearly do better with e-ink screens.Recommended. Govee's good reputation is well earned here.

Power-efficient, lots of memory, incredibly crisp display
Fantastic devices on its own - very long battery life, very readable screen, quickly connecting to my phone's BT for the data download. What I particularly love is a big internal storage for the metrics, which lets me read one of the sensors once per 3-4 weeks. They seem to be on a expensive side compared to the standard Tuya offering but if you don't need integration with Smart Things, this particular device will suit you much better.

Accurate, looks good, does the job, no worries
Whether the e-ink version is worth more than the LCD is a personal call, but I love that both are available so we can choose. The functionality is the same, the app is excellent, the display shows what I want with nothing surplus.

Fantastic bit of kit
Govee products are always great value for money and this one is no exception. It’s pretty small, but good build quality and nice screen - the app is honestly very good, the thermometer paired instantly with no fuss and it syncs quickly. The data is great, seems accurate, and the graphs of temperature and humidity on the app are nice to have.I mainly bought this to pair with the Govee humidifier and it works seamlessly - the Govee ecosystem seems to be on par with Apple honestly. Once the thermometer is linked to the app, I just linked it with the humidifier and job done - the humidifier automatically turns on and off to keep my humidity setting.Absolutely fantastic bit of kit!

Nice clear, readable screen
It’s a little smaller than I would have liked, but the very clear (Kindle-like), easy to read screen makes up for it. It connected really easily to my Govee Home app, which shows up to date temperature and humidity. If you want to see a graph showing changes over the last hour/day/week/month/year you will have to wait a few seconds for the data to synchronise. I’d give it five stars if you didn’t have to wait.

Display gave up.
The display gave up after few weeks of use (indoor). Reached out to their support who responded quickly but said they don’t have it in stock to replace it, although their Amazon store had it in stock. Promised a refund that I never received and ultimately had to return via Amazon. I have other Govee products that have proven to be great but this one isn’t. Wont recommend.

A neat little device
Pretty good - so good I ordered 4 more, and with a further 40% price reduction on two of them (wish I'd spotted that earlier).Definitely recommended. The software briefly had issues with connecting, possibly related to having two devices waiting to be paired but the third device was added easily. There doesn't appear to be any means of downloading the recorded data but that may appear once I've set up an account. The display is excellent - first time I'd seem an E-Ink display and it couldn't be clearer, at any viewing angle.Accuracy appears good - two units in the same location displayed the temperature within 0.1 °C of each other with identical humidity readings (the app showed they were within 0.2 %).The app provides a calibration facility which allows the temperature and humidity readings to be tweaked up or down, compensating for inaccuracies. Without some known standard this is likely more useful to eliminate the minor reading differences between devices at the same location.I'm not sure why some appear to have had issues with accessing the battery. On the base (the thicker end) is a small slot. Holding the unit face down with the slot nearest to you, Insert the tip of a small flat-bladed screwdriver and gently twist - the lid will pop open and can be lifted off. Remove the tab under the battery and position the lid using its locating pegs inside the unit and press it into place.Likewise with the device falling over.A sticky pad is provided which is large enough to fit on the back of the device so if you want it to reliably stand upright, cut a small strip off the pad and use that on the base.
