Perfect & ingenious rear light-
This is my favorite rear bike light by FAR. I've used the Knog lights, Bontrager, Planet bike lights, and a variety of cheap blinky lights. One of the main reasons is the secondary light which shines downward and illuminates the ground. It makes me feel more visible and I've noticed that cars give me more room. That might also be because this light is super bright. The battery is excellent and the smart brake light lights up when braking. All in all I just feel safer using this light. My other favorite feature is the seat rail mount which is super discreet and minimal. The light easily twists on and off for charging and is high enough on the bike that's it not obscured by my panniers. I've found other lights which incorporate rubber straps tend to brake over time and just don't look as nice.My only quibbles with the light would that it uses micro-usb rather than usb c but that is the same with all my bike lights. In my dream world these kind of lights would use wireless charging so they could be easily placed on a charging mat rather than fiddling with usb cables. All in all this is the best rear bike light I've used and surprisingly affordable considering all the features. I almost didn't buy this because I wanted to get a "fancy" rear light. I'm glad I chose this one.

Light leaked and stopped working
The light is super bright, which is what attracted me to buy it. However on my second use, it started raining and after my ride, I noticed that the light became full of condensation, despite the USB charging port being securely closed. I dried the light out by setting it in the sun with the USB charging port open, but could not see any visible damage to the sealed plastic case. I used the light a couple more times in dry weather, but noticed a sporadic blinking pattern, which might have been due to the circuits being previously exposed to moisture. On its last use, I rode my mountain bike in the snow and again, the light was plagued with condensation and it stopped working half way through the ride. I am very disappointed in this product and suggest that others proceed with caution. It is too bad, because the light was super bright and easy to switch between my gravel and mountain bikes.

Best bang for you buck
Although this isn’t the cheapest of tail lights it is the best value given its quality and functionality. First off this thing is bright….like don’t stare at it directly bright. I feel safer knowing this can be seen from a distance. Second it offers more than just the tail light as it projects a lighted circle down on bike and ground. At night this can be seen by motorists regardless of which way they are looking at bike and rider. Third it has multiple ways you can set the light, either blinking, steady, or interactive. The lights can also be set up as a break light letting those behind you know when you are slowing down or coming to a stop. The quality is great and feels like it will last a long time. The battery has only been charged twice and I have ridden for hours with light on its strongest settings. The mount works great and I have had zero issues with it falling off even hitting some really rough single track. I would buy this one again and am now interested in some of Magicshine other lights.

Great light, but bad battery
Update: I did reach out to magicshine and they replaced my light with their warrantee on the battery. Great customer service responded to my email in 24 hours and I had a replacement in about 5 days. Raising my score from a 2 to a 4 for this.I have been looking for the perfect rear bike light and thought this was it. I wanted a bright rear tail light as I do a lot of commuting to work and use some streets that have some heavy traffic. I ended up buying this one after LOVING my Magicshine 1200 front light. This light is very bright and I like that it also has a light that aims down lighting up the ground underneath you for extra visibility from all directions. It charges by USB C which was something I really wanted as most other lights still use micro USB and those cables are getting obsolete and I prefer all my stuff to charge with the same cable. So far, it has been doing every thing I wanted it to. I also love that this light had a quarter turn twist And lock mount for super easy attaching to the bike. This is very similar to a Garmin mount but a little smaller. One thing I wish this light would do is remember the setting you were on when you turn it back on. There are a lot of settings and it feels like you have to scroll thru all the presets every time you turn the light on. That I can live with, but the issue is the battery. Unless you charge it every day, this will not last. They are talking about 30+ hours of battery life in the adds. But I ride an hour a day and I can only get a day or two and its done (2 hours total). I would love to find a light that I can charge on Sunday and will last (5) 1 hour rides until the next Sunday.I have also done some longer rides that were about 6 hours long and only about half the time it would last until the end. The RN1200 headlight is amazing and will hold a charge for days, I wish this light was as reliable.

Team Magicshine! Insanely good battery life,...throw that Nightrider away!
VERY SATISFIED. I use a Magicshine 8000s Headlight. I've used it almost every day for over 2 years without a single problem. So adding a Magicshine Taillight seemed like a safe purchase. My Taillight of choice prior has been the Nightrider. It had EXCELLENT brightness but horrible in every other aspect. Obsolete "Micro USB" connection and "one ride" battery life. This Magicshine Taillight went 9 rides, 240 miles, and 17 hours on its first charge! This was on smart mode. In the Eco setting it would have gone much longer. My only complaint is that they should give you the "Clip mount" with the light instead of making you buy it separately. C'mon Magicshine!
