Insight Guides Jordan (Travel Guide with Free eBook) (Insight Guides Main Series, 336)

I used this guide to plan a trip to Jordan including, Petra, Wadi Rum and Jerash etc. it's well laid out with lots of interesting pictures/maps and informative text. What I like about this book is that it gives you information about the whole of Jordan rather than focussing just on the obvious tourist attractions like Petra. Well worth the cost especially if you're a traveller that likes to see beyond the obvious tourist sights.

Would recommend this book for a traveller wanting to get a fairly comprehensive overview of the country before their visit. There are good descriptions of the major sites with excellent photography. Enjoyed reading about the background history of Jordan. The recommendations for hotels and restaurants are discretely positioned in the guide so it would be good for visitors with pre booked accomodation etc. I am not sure if the book is detailed enough to act a guide book whilst actually visiting a site such as Petra.

This book goes into great depth and so is very informative.I will be visiting Jordan this year and this book will be coming with me.The topics covered in this book are well laid out and the many colour pictures are great.I am reading this book in advance of my trip as you would read any book, for the history and culture,having cherry picked the places I will be visiting and practical travel details.Enjoyable.

Was a little disappointed with the book. We are very used to the DK style travel books which provides lists of hotels and food places, lists of top 10 things to do etc.... This book dosen't really provide that. You have to wade thru the paragraphs of text to dig facts out, which is OK if you want to read about an areas history, but if you want to find the best places to eat or shop etc. then..... I'd try another book.

I have most of the series in my native language but for some reason I couldn't find Jordan so I got the English version. Excellent and comprehensive country guide from an equally excellent series!

Covers all the sites that the visitor wants to see in glorious colour.
