I rarely see glassware as thick, heavy, well made, and high quality as this.While basically round, this little "Salt Cellar" canister actually features 12 flat areas making up its circumference, so it is technically a "dodecagon" cylinder. This lovely faceting gives it a "reeded waterglass" type of look, as it refracts the light passing through it.I got the "Emerald Green", which I noticed is exactly the same color one would usually see if looking at the edge of a thick clear glass panel.The lid fits perfectly and flatly all the way around, however as some have noted, it does not have a rubber grommet on the underside of the lid, so it is should not be expected to hold anything "air-tight" over long periods of time.Personally, I would have not embossed "SALT" on the canister, as I suspect the vast majority of people will use this for a purpose other than very short-term salt storage (as it is not air-tight) ... however, it is easy enough to turn that "SALT" lettering around to the back side, where it is no longer visible. I suspect the manufacturer's idea was that by embossing "SALT" on it, this would enhance its appearance by giving it a quaint and "repurposed" look... and perhaps it does.If you are looking for a beautifully colored heavy glass small canister, this is an excellent choice.

I ordered the black jar and received a navy blue one, an option not available for purchase. In certain lighting, it looks black/charcoal however. The color is beautiful so I will be keeping it but if you're considering buying the black one, keep that in mind. It also is not airtight so another thing to consider.Also, like another reviewer, I was hoping it, being 10oz, would hold an entire 8.5oz box of Maldon salt but I did have about a 1/4 cup leftover.All in all, it's fine and the price is good for what it is, but it's not without its faults.

Very nice. It is on our table and we use it every day. It is large enough, but not too large.

This is just what I was looking for to keep salt covered, but easy to access while I'm cooking. I was a little disappointed to find that it has to be hand-washed. That is not a big deal, but I was just getting ready to put it in the dishwasher when I read that it had to be hand-washed.
