How do you lock this from the outside?

You don’t. It’s mounted on the inside and provides extra security while you are home. It’s a very nice, strong lock.

Is this lock only as strong as the door frame it's screwed into?

The lock itself has been force tested up to 1650 lbs. It is made of steel and high grade aluminum. It comes with 3 inch screws and it has a lifetime guarantee.

Does it work on both left and right handed inswing doors?
