Mont Marte Woodless Charcoal Pencils, 3 Piece. Features 3 Grades Of Charcoal Including Soft, Medium and Hard.

I tried this woodless charcoal and it worked for me! I didn't like the compressed charcoal pencils especially when sharpening the soft grade. They break easily.

I am really happy with these woodless pencils. I can get a fine line and it seems to stay sharp so far. I find that the charcoal is still moveable and erasable if needed. Easy to work with. A bit darker than my Derwert soft pencil but I find it mixes well.

Pros:1) You don't have to deal with brittleness. That's a HUGE advantage.2) The Soft one is a good one 4/5.Cons:1) I'm used to Wolff's and General's and the soft pencil in this series is very good. However you find some gunk in it every stroke then and now which doesn't make it a high end quality product however is good for students.2) I wish they sold these separated, because I have no use for mediums or hards. They're just weak to draw with.3) Important observation is that they have a warmer yellowy tint. So if you draw with a Wolff's beside it you'll notice immediately that they have a greasy warm tone to the charcoal. Not sure if I don't like that, but if you have an accident and it breaks, you can't draw with another back up on the drawing because it will be just horrendous.Advice: Buy it and try it out. My instructor loved them. I didn't.

All pencils came intact, as other has mentioned they look a little fragile but I’m not gonna be throwing them around. I tested them out on different types of paper real quick and they look like they are going to work out just like I wanted them to iamb very happy with them colors are good wide range of different colors would’ve liked a few more greens but that’s OK

Okay, I lied about the packaging. I gave it five stars. Every pencil made it to me in perfect condition, there's nothing wrong with the packaging. I didn't want to detract from the quality of the product itself. The packaging is fine, just not "premium" or "pretty" or "practical" for regular use.But these pencils are WONDERFUL. Buttery smooth, easy to wet, firm enough to sketch with. The colors in this set are great for skin tones, or landscapes, or florals.I'm not complaining about the packaging, I'm glad they didn't put a mediocre product in a nice box and call it "premium." 🙄 These pencils are such a great value, if you're giving them as a gift, include a two buck pencil roll or case.

Artist family member loves these. They do break easily and are a little difficult to sharpen, but for the price it was a great buy!

These are okay.The good:Pencil like construction is easy to hold and use without getting dirtyThe bad:Not much difference between the soft, medium and hard.All of these have hard points when using which results in scratching streaks when applying, I dislike this a lot, as I have to keep turning it and finding a better spot to draw with. I've used better charcoal pencils than this. Maybe if you are just starting out and don't know the difference, you would think these are nice, but if you've used other charcoal pencils, these are sub par in my opinion.

I love working with charcoal, but I hate how messy it can be. These pencils really help me control where my lines are, and keep my fingers free from mess! They're easy to work with and I've done a few commissions using them with a lot of compliments!

These are the best, the full core pencil gives you more control with narrow or wide stroke, gives a nice watercolor effect good color range and really good price. They will break in half if you drop them on a hard surface, but you can duct tape the back together, it's a 5 star review from me.
