Great for beginners
We’ve used these with my kindergartner and they are great because he can read every word or almost every word. The difficulty is not overwhelming for him.

My children learned to with with Bob Books!
If you're looking for books to help your child start reading, you can't go wrong with Bob Books Set 1. This set comes with 12 small books that are perfect for little hands and beginning readers. The stories are super simple but still manage to be fun and engaging. They start off with easy three-letter words like "cat" and gradually get more complex as you go through the set. The pacing is great - not too slow, not too fast. Kids get plenty of practice with each word without getting bored. The illustrations are cute and colorful, with a fun, cartoonish style that kids will love. They do a great job of showing what's happening in the story, which really helps new readers figure out the words.Overall, I highly recommend Bob Books Set 1 for any child just starting their reading journey. They were a huge hit with my kid and made learning to read a breeze. Trust me, these books are a game-changer! Your child will be reading in no time.

These books are AMAZING!!
My daughter was struggling with sounding things out (but was great at memorizing.) While these books are easy, the way they are designed focuses heavily on phonics and made it easy for her to practice sounding things out and actually reading the words - this was a GAME CHANGER for us!! Can't recommend enough!

Best books for learning to read!
I started teaching my daughter to read over the summer using these books, which were a success. She was so excited when she was able to read by herself. These are a great start to an early love of reading!

Works for us
My 4yo is doing great with these. And my 3yo just started. We practice together with a couple books a day and we've gotten through the first box set. We're close to moving onto the next set soon. The progress is very digestible for her. New sounds are added gradually. It can be challenging, but still reasonable. English spelling can be misleading to the actual sounds of the words, but there are minimal exceptions so far. An example would be the word "to".Some tips: Make sure your kids work on individual sounds. Outside of the books, make a game of blending sounds. I say sounds "kh" "aa" "tt". She says "cat".I point to the letters (or have her point), she does each sound, then blends it like our game. Also, it helps us to cover the pictures sometimes before the sentence as they can cause her to guess, or work from memory.
