Works great
I don't have the tools to check on the actual rated strength being correct, but it feels great for the cost.

Was skeptical. Now I'm a convert
I've been using pulley/style snatch blocks for years. I was one of the last to finally go to synthetic winch line and soft shackles. I was a bit dubious of how well something so simple as this could work. But work it does. The line slips through it with no drag. It's also easy to rig up more than one for extra pulling power if needed. I'm going to be keeping a few of these in the recovery kit.

Should do the job
I do volunteer trail maintenance/construction and have been getting more involved in needing to use rigging to successfully achieve our objective. That may involve pulling stumps or logs off the trail, or simply secure a hazard from an active work area. At other times we've winched bridge stringers across streams, or moved rock via zip line. This work usually means packing equipment in on the trail, so weight is a major factor. So I'm currently shopping for what equipment might be the best match for our type of work.Soft shackles and recovery rings seem to have a much better weight to working load ratio than the standard all steel alternative. That is where this recovery ring comes in. Though I'd like to find a recovery ring that has a much lower load limit for a much lighter weight for out type of work. In the mean time, this will do.The ring is well constructed and uniformly smooth. The load and rope size markings are lightly embossed, so they don't readily wear away. It should do it's job well. The one negative I have for the item I received is that the inside hole had a pair of light burrs on either side of the hole. I saw this as an issue to cause wear on the soft shackle as the ring turns on the shackle. I took a file, then buffer, and finally polishing compound to the area to smooth the burrs down to the point of being of minimum issue. I'm hoping that the one I received was an anomaly on the production line and yours won't be that way.

Absolute must have addition
I've used traditional steel snatch blocks for many years, and while they are still excellent tools, these snatch rings are easier, lighter, and have more capacity when used with synthetic rope. They also allow for more attachment scenarios than your standard snatch block. Then when you factor in price, there's no way you could find a standard block for 14 bucks that had anywhere near the capacity. Do yourself a favor and add one of these to your kit, you absolutely will not regret it!
