Well executed
This knife is everything you would need in an outdoor knife. The sheath, while it does have a plastic feel, is made well. Excellent retention on both the knife and the fire starter. The handle is extremely ergonomic although the rubber may cause some hot spots with heavy wood working. The blade came sharp and has a very thick spine. Oddly enough hx offers this model and a more premium one. I prefer this one.

Great knife, great price
First of all great presentation, although a bit wasteful. Knife is sharp, and strong. Handle is comfortable and doesn't slip in your hand, even wet. Good size for most tasks, not to bulky, allows for easier handling. Ferro rod works great, and the whistle is loud. When you push the knife into the sheath, and it stops it does rattle a little bit, but if you push a little further the knife goes into the sheath properly and sit quietly with no rattle. Just gotta push past the first stop. Overall great buy, would definitely recommend.

Nice sharp knife 🔪 killer sheath
For the money, this knife rocks. The best part for me is the dual position sheath. Hold the knife well, good features, not a high end unit... not a high end price. I have the Gerber, it's allot more money for a lots better quality... but this is my everyday carry.. balanced well.. looks great!

Good Buy
I have never written a review for an Amazon product before but for this one, I felt I had to. I am incredibly pleased with my purchase of this knife. The quality is better than I expected for the price point I bought it at (33$) and I would recommend this knife to anyone looking for a tactical knife like this one. I haven't yet used the fire starter but the whistle is very loud and effective. The knife came sharp and ready to go in a nice plastic box that made the presentation nice and made me much happier about my purchase overall. I was specifically looking for a horizontally carried knife that could be a backup to my Ka-Bar and this one met all my expectations. The only issue is the knife rattles around the plastic sheath if you move it but I didn't notice rattling when I carried it horizontally on my belt. Overall I am very pleased and I would buy this knife again.

Excellent knife from HX Outdoors
I collect knives and I use knives, I probably have over 200+ knives. This was my first knife by HX Outdoors and I caught it on sale for less than a 1/3 of what they want for them now, which was a steal. I'll start with the negatives first, and there is only one small one. The sheath rattled a bit with the knife inserted which was an easy fix, I shoved a cotton ball in it and it was fine after that. The grip on the knife is ergo friendly and has nice grip in wet weather. The grinds were even and well done and it was sharp enough to use out of the box (I'm not a sharpness snob that needs every knife I own to double as a scalpel) The sheath has a variety of mounting options, which is a huge plus, and the knife locks in nicely. I haven't used the ferro rod , but the knife has a spot on the spine to use for it. Over all it was an excellent buy for what I paid for it, but at full price it has a lot of competition that might be better.

Great knife to have around for when it's needed. It also has the ferro rod incase of emergency.

Great quality
Love this knife. Great quality. Great grip on the handle, thick blade , durable sheathe and blade, love the feel of it, as well as the sheathe and the set up of the Ferro rod built into it. Great idea putting the rod in the sheathe. Best fixed blade and sheathe I've bought and for the price, you absolutely cannot beat it. Will definitely be shopping with this company again. Already have a second just to have and it's still in the box.

A truly great product that just (noisily) misses the mark
I really wanted to love this knife. I contemplated buying a Gerber Strongarm for $90 but hesitated due to the 420HC construction. Now, there is nothing wrong with 420HC, and Gerber works miracles with it, but the HX Outdoors is a very similar knife made from D2 steel. It seemed like a great alternative for about 1/3 of the price, coupled with its highly-rated reviews. The knife arrived in a really cool, locking plastic shell box, with foam padding preventing it from rattling around inside. Like the Gerber, it has a heavy-duty, ambidextrous, and molle/lashing rich sheath with multiple belt connection options for side, dangle, and scout carry. The D2 blade is thick and robust, and the blade came razor sharp. BUT...And here's the rub - it rattles around in the sheath in a loudly infuriating way. I can see walking through the woods and alerting every creature within a mile that you're coming. Like I said, I really wanted to like this knife, but it was just too noisy. It's possible that this is just a feature of that style of sheath, but I found it annoying, so I returned it.If you can find a way to defeat the sheath noise, it will likely make a great knife. Just keep in mind that D2 steel is highly susceptible to rusting, so keep it well-oiled!
