Better get two if your wife/husband also reads.
Love the choice of color temperature. The amber light at 1600k is great for night reading but I also find the brightest 5000k temperature helpful when I need some extra light for daytime reading. Also the blend at 2500k perfect for me to simulate "lamp reading". And also of course you can adjust the brightness at all temperature settings.I find the light works great on hardcover books with the included spring clip, but where I think this light really "shines" is for paperbacks and mass market paperbacks. For these I remove the spring clip and use it sort of bookmark style, but while also "clipping" it to a section of pages to give it something more to hold on to. I have found this to be the only book light I have enjoyed using on paperbacks at all, which is great because I love paperbacks!I have also found that it works well for a small desk or work lamp as it can stand by itself ona desk or table and illuminate your subject matter. Also I have simply slid it into the collar of my shirt for a downward facing light for both books and other projects.Basically I use this thing all the time. I love it. The battery is good, certainly good enough for several hours of reading in the dark, but the length of time varies greatly depending on the color temp and brightness setting you have chosen. I tend to charge mine up every 3 days or so, even though it typically hasn't died, and I read about 2-3hrs per day with it. I did have it die once while reading which was no fun, but I don't really know how long I had been using it. Maybe 4 or 5 days.It is very versatile, extremely lightweight, easily packable and tremendously useful. It's also pretty cheap, so get two or your wife will take yours and you'll just have to get another one. Like me.

Incredible device
I'm a geek and I have to admit it took me a while to figure out how to charge this device (it's 'new geek', whereas I'm 'ancient geek'!), but this thing is awesome!!! I bought it to use on my new laptop, to illuminate the keyboard, of course. I'd tried clipping it on the top of my display, which worked well, except when it popped off and scared the pee out of my 2 dogs!!! The light started getting dimmer, so I had to figure out how to charge it, which was not obvious (at least not to me!). Turns out there's a flexible 'leg' in the middle of the device, which has a VERY bare bones USB plug, which you can push into a regular USB outlet, once you figure out which side 'goes up'. Figured out how to do that and there's a USB outlet on the side of my laptop. Plugged it in there and was able to use the very flexible legs to position it PERFECTLY to light up my keyboard. So I can just leave it plugged in there to use it - the battery will never die, and I don't need to worry anymore about 'scaring the pee' out of my dogs! Seriously, this thing should cost a LOT more!!!BUY IT! And, NO, I have absolutely NO affiliation with the manufacturer OR the seller, NOR am I getting a 'gift' for posting this review.

Holds a charge for one night or maybe two nights if you read late into the night
I use a book light a lot. A _LOT_!! I appreciate that this one is not too bright for the other person (sleeping, who likes the dark). However, I have a different, second, book-light that is a little brighter, because if I read late into the night for more than a day, I need to recharge this one. And if I forget, this one gets dim then goes dark and I might need to keep reading for the end of the book-- so I need a back-up while this one recharges. What I really like is that it takes a specific click of a button - a thoughtful action to turn it on, change light level, or turn it off. My other book light has a brush-against-it instead of a button, so I might leave it o, just by setting it aside and not noticing that it got brushed on.

It's actually really useful
I really like the design. It's literally works as a bookmark and super nice at night. I actually got this as an extension to my remakable tablet. The remarkable is absolutely attrocious in low light. This little light Is an absolute life saver when it comes to using it at night. The battery life isn't bad, I ended up using it for 4+ hours(over the course of a couple days) . The light it provides is more than sufficient for low light application. The clip it uses to stay attached to the book(in my case the tablet) is plastic; its a pretty generic hard plastic clip and I don't plan on putting it through terrible conditions but keep that in mind if you plan on carrying it a bag with things that could possible crush it. Overall quality and usability are great and I would recommend it for those who want to be in bed at night and read or write something without the need of an awkward lamp. On an ending note, this thing made me realize how absolutely annoying shadows were when I used a lamp and how useful a simple light can be.

The flat one is great for reading pencil notes
In case you haven't noticed it, pencil writing can be shiny and reflective in direct light. (It's a characteristic of graphite.) That can make pencil notes difficult to read under some lighting. Many book lights aren't great for reading pencil notes because they hang out over the page and shine down and reflect off the pencil graphite. They can cause similar glare if the paper is shiny at all.The flat, ribbon version of this book light makes pencil writing a lot easier to read. The lighting comes from the top or side or bottom of the page (depending on where you position it) and puts a wash of light across the page instead of shining down from above it.The 3000K LED puts out a warm light, too, and there are four brightness settings. The whole thing weighs only about 2 ounces. The spring clip is easy to operate and is removable--it slides off--and the light can be used like a bookmark or stored flat. The charging "cable" is actually the middle ribbon of the light. You can tug and push it out of the clip, or just slide the clip off. It fits in most any standard USB port for recharging. A thoughtful feature is a charging light that turns off to let you know the light is fully recharged.
