It was exactly what I had in mind for a gift for someone who trained on the real thing back in the day. Considering that the item was coming from Poland the actual speedy delivery date was also a pleasant surprise.

A little more weight in the nose would help as most collectors like their models to be free standing,other than that it is okay.

The problem with buying any of these aircraft reproductions via Amazon or Ebay is that a wide range of sellers handle them, stock seems to be bought up and re-labelled, and models go out of the catalog and show up somewhere else.This particular item is a nicely detailed *plastic* PBY, not a *metal* model. I see that, while "die casting" necessarily refers to a metal fabrication, "die cast toy" includes plastic injection moulding.I have a number of these. Those that I purchased at my local shop *that are metal* are all in the Postage Stamp line, and the stand is a long triangle with the name in an arc on the front; they're in various odd scales from 1:87 ~ 1:200. Those that I've ordered from various places *that turn out to be plastic* are all on a wedge stand (as shown here) with a stick-on flag decal, and either in 1:72 or 1:144.The plastic ones are fine at the price, and serve my purpose of having an object to focus on while reading about Midway, the Thach Weave, or (in this case) what I now appreciate as the vital role of PBYs in the Pacific War.

Despite being from a company called "American Hobby" the parcel arrived from Poland, of all places. Apparently I missed the signature as well, and instead of it arriving in my P.O. Box I had to bring my notice to the mail clerk desk and sign for it there, which is rare.That aside, the product isn't that well constructed. The landing gear was not fully extended, prohibiting the plane from sitting level on all 3 wheels. Add to that the crooked wheels and no guns or ordnance at all, it really doesn't do a Justice for the poor Cat. It doesn't even fit the stand properly... My other order was a Lancaster and it turned out much better, so I have mixed feelings about this seller.
