I bought this because I am disabled and can't use a corkscrew. My mother has a simple version that works so well. I couldn't get this to work when I first bought it but thought that it was due to weakness in my hands. But a friend tried to use it today and has the same problems. The spike that goes through the cork doesn't create a seal and you can hear the air escaping. So it doesn't build up any pressure to push the cork out. A very disappointing product.
