TalkTalk Huawei Super Router HG633 WiFi Boardband 802.11ac (New 2015 Model)

Bought this router for my talktalk service at home as talktalk wouldn't supply me with a up to date one (had old router since 2007 when I joined talktalk. I thought the price was high in comparison to other routers but the reviews said it was the best for speed. Not long after I bought it, my internet service went down and I didn't know if it was the new router. Long story short, talktalk sent me a new router (to see if my Internet problem was due to faulty equipment) the same one that I had bought, and that one wouldn't start after a brief power cut. Hopefully this one will keep working. ☺

I note that there are many highly technical and seemingly well-informed criticisms of this router but for me its essential features are wholly satisfactory, despite the fact that it is an old (2015) design. It works well with my fibre connection in providing four Ethernet connections, each with the predicted 37 Mbps connection speed and the two WiFi bands are strong enough to cover my entire house (not a mansion but it is a typical 4 bedroom house) providing an adequate WiFi signal in the most distant corner of the most distant bedroom.

I'm sorry this is a router I cannot recommend. The apparently simple job of port forwarding the signal of a security camera to smart phone could not be sorted out. Unfortunately TalkTalk technical support are unable to help, which defies understanding. The router is quite powerful and the WiFi signal is stronger than my previous router. However, periodically my phone,a galaxy s7 edge, looses connection with the router, which is unexplained and has nothing to do with weak signal strength.

This works very well after an initial problem of it not "booting up" did a factory reset a couple of times and now works fine. Unfortunately (or should I say fortunately) the seller sent a replacement before I got it working and had to pay for the return. But for that, a great seller.
