The question is: What would you pay for a first aid kit that makes an important difference?
I was in the middle of putting together what I considered a comprehensive first aid kit. I worked for a number of years for doctors as a medical assistant, so I have some background to inform what needed to be there. Plus, we have a busy workshop, and I've gotten to see what walks in the door from there, injury wise. It'd become my project: Let's have a good first aid kit. Then this became available and I am so very grateful. As side information: Almost 2 years ago, my husband called an ambulance for me. I said, "Something is wrong." And then I blacked out. I woke on and off to hear him say, over and over to the speaker on his phone, "HOW far OUT is the AMBULANCE?" The poor man was terrified. Luckily, our local volunteer fire rescue department was on lunch, listening to the radio, and came to help him. But - and this is the point of my story - it took the ambulance, even with them knowing I was in critical need - he told them he was pretty sure I was having a heart attack (which was confirmed by the EMTS) - the ambulance still took at least 15 to 20 minutes to get here. Ambulances only show up instantly in the movies.Back to this amazing First Aid setup, which is illustrated beautifully in the ad.First thing to do when you get it is take it all apart, spread it all out and examine it. It isn't organized for you. Get familiar with what is there. And then, repack it so YOU KNOW where everything is. This remarkable kit will not help you if, in a moment of need, you have to figure it out THEN. You want to know what's in there and EXACTLY where it is so that, when you reach for it and open it, you know where each item is. You'll want the most used stuff super handy, and the specialty stuff in an appropriate place for it.Also - I think getting this kit is a wonderful summer learning opportunity for your family to learn about first aid - why is all this in here? PLUS that will allow everyone to be equally familiar with the kit, so all can be helpful, if needed. Finally cost: I was floored by how reasonably priced this is. Buying any first aid items will show how reasonable this kit is. I plan to establish a certain day (New year's? My birthday?) where I go through and restock used or expired items.I absolutely recommend this. The Ambulance doesn't arrive in 5 minutes. You might need to act fast. This first aid kit could make that important difference.

Well supplied general trama kit for general first aid
Two of my four children are charge nurses, one a former paramedic. I am ex military so I am familiar with medical. I am one of those weird people who have lots of emergency equipment in my SUV and have wanted to have a trauma kit for years. This is a good quality, upgraded first aid kit that has some supplies normally carried on ambulances. This does not have the cheap, typical knock off garbage sometimes seen. My son looked at this kit and he said that he just put together a kit similar to this one for his church and was pleased with the assortment. This trauma kit is more slanted for a non medical person to use. The tourniquet has a metal dowel and not plastic to turn, which plastic easily snaps when pressure is applied, as an example of quality of supplies. This has an abundance of typical gauzes and a variety of splints. There are supplies to reduce bleeding. After looking at the supplies, one thing that I did first was pull out all of the supplies and reorganize them to what an EMT would prefer, a more logical layout for trauma protocols. Some supplies such as an OB kit for delivering a baby and neck collar were put on the bottom or in the back of the bag. It is now common that collars generally are not used if the patient is conscious. The bag fabric is thick and rubberized on the bottom so contents won’t be damaged if the bag was dropped in a puddle. This is light weight and handles are comfortable. There are areas for improvement. This could have had more reflective tape on the outside. The velcro on the side pockets tends to easily jam the zipper of the side pockets. It would have been nice to have another oressure bandage to stop bleeding. Having a bottle of hand sanitizer is odd since it takes about 15 minutes for alcohol to kill germs and in the meantime the sanitizer impedes putting on gloves. Sanitizer would not be used and any liquids just adds weight. A pen light would have been handy to use for diagnostics.Overall, I am happy with this trauma kit because someone did the work for me and it has pockets to keep supplies organized.
