The one for me
Perfect book for me, well written, packed with useful information and not filled up with photographs like some that are more suitable for a coffee table.

Borrowed and bought.
Apparently borrowed from my brother, but had to return it, so had to get myself a copy. Very informative and inspirational, looking forward to doing the trip someday.

Recommended even if it could be better
A well illustrated book and a useful aid for anyone planning to do the NC500. I would have given it a 5 star rating but for the occasional errors that appear in the text. It also isn't the easiest book to navigate and I do wish that the symbols on the maps were defined (if they are then I apologise but I've found no trace to date). Don't let these minor irritants putting you off purchasing it however because its strengths far outweigh any weaknesses

Excellent Guide
Call me old fashioned, call me whatever you like - I just like having a good old fashioned guide book by me when travelling (my wife is completely the opposite - everything via the internet). For one thing, there are parts of the NC500 where there is no or very poor connectivity so for that reason alone, I'd recommend getting a guide. This one is very well laid out and with some superb illustrations (pictures) of the key sites to see all along the way. Great value considering this. The one thing that nearly put me off were the numerous reports of pages falling out as that would have driven me mad - but luckily I didn't experience that at all so hopefully this issue is now sorted.

Good and informative book for the route

Lots of facts and detail
It has a huge amount of information available, to be honest to much. If you were going for 6 months great but for a week you need the key highlights and they get a bit lost. It’s also very drily written in a factual academic manner it’s not really telling a story

Review with Pros & Cons
WOW AGAIN, I have four different guide books by Charles Tait and overall, once again one of the best guide books I have seen, other than his miniguides which have way to small of print. Here are the pros & cons of this book as I see it, I hope this helps you.Pros:1. Very nicely and logically laid out and divided and subdivided in sections and chapters to find what you are looking for quickly2. Welcome to the NC 500; Introduction; Gazetteer; Sid Trips; & Reference all included3. Many area are covered in this book4. Beautiful photography5. Handy Maps6. Itinerary SuggestionsCons:1. As with many guide books, I find the print and maps to be a wee bit to small, as I am often referring to them while moving about in places that might not have the best lighting, etc.2. A list of pubs and banks with their locations would be nice

Simply the best
