"Heroism lies in the soul that stands firm against its fears."
After seeing the reveal almost 2 years ago and keeping up with a lot of the trailers I can say this game does not disappoint in the slightest. I am a huge fan of developer Atlus' games, with Persona 5 Royal being my favorite game of all time, so I was going in with high expectations and somehow this game managed to surpass all of them in virtually every single aspect. The visuals and art are unmatched, the gameplay is fun and stylish and the story is unlike no others. It is a worthy purchase filled to the brim with content and a metanarrative that is sure to stick with you for life. Metaphor has one of the most poetic and profound messages in all of gaming, and it is not afraid to tackle themes like racism and inequality , and it does so in very smart ways. It has a message rooted within the ideals of a just society, and it is a must play for any JRPG fan, or RPG fan in general.Do not miss out on this game.

ATLUS! You Really Outdid Yourself!
I've been a huge fan of Atlus' games for years and this felt like the style of Persona, the gameplay and difficulty of Shin Megami Tensei, in the setting of a Dragon Quest game. Within the first few hours of gameplay, it became clear that Atlus learns and gets better with each release and presented an almost flawless game. The graphics and art style is gorgeous, super fun gameplay, you can tweak your characters to your heart's delight, and the soundtrack is AMAZING. As for the story itself, it's pace flowed nicely with plenty of heartwarming and heartbreaking scenes filled with fun plot twists. It's my pick for GOTY.

Might be better than Persona & SMT series
Atlas games are so long, but I can't help but love it. This is a great new IP for them to do. It's a nice balance between SMT and Persona style. Same kind of time passage, and as an adult, I'm glad the protag is not a high school student.

Absolutely stunning.
This game so far has completely surpassed ALL of my expectations! I avoided spoilers for this game like the plague when it was announced, so this is only my opinion on the first 4 hours of the game; take it with a grain of salt, if you will (pun intended.) The visuals alone and the SOUNDTRACK, has me overwhelmed in the best way possible. The character designs do not miss, the battle music is a banger (the chanting in it is everything honestly), and the voice acting thus far is quality itself. I usually go for Japanese audio/Eng subtitles on most games, but I was curious about how the English audio would sound on this one (like Persona 5 Royal and some other Atlus games.) I ended up keeping my settings on the English audio in the end, because I really love all the different accents! The plot is also worth noting, as there is a LOT of world-building. I also wouldn't worry about getting lost with all of the terminology in the game (or even about a certain character's history as more are introduced) because there is a glossary to keep you updated on all of it. All in all, so far I would 150% recommend this game to anyone who is a Persona/SMT lover, or any rpg lover in general. I will update my review once I finish the game though!

Newest atlus standard.
If you’ve played any atlus game. The mechanics will be familiar. Social sim meets real time turn based combat.the combat is more streamlined than any game to date. The story is unique even for Atlus as it is incredibly relevant to the modern world. As fun to play as it is a thought provoking title.

Amazing Game
I love Atlus games and this seemed totally different than their Persona or Catherine approach so I wanted to try. I love Final Fantasy too and saw many comparisons to that. Is it like one? In a lot of ways yes, in a lot of ways it's like Persona too. An adventure story with a lot of nods to Bosch's painting, Thomas More, ideologies and allegories to our modern world but also choices of how you spend your time as deadlines approach. There was a nier moment in there too.The game is gradual (story-wise) and a lot of the 'meaty' parts of the story start later. Characters are lovable. Gameplay is fun and challenging. It's amazing, I recommend.

Great game and hope to see a sequel
Enjoyed this game. Def happy I bought it from Amazon for $50 instead of paying $70 for it. I enjoyed the story and love the gameplay and battle system. My only complaint is that the game runs really long. It's got about an 80 hour standard playtime and you just likely won't finish everything on your first playthrough.
